North East Wales Football League Division 3

Johnstown YFC 0
CPD Bellevue 2 (S Alabi 1, Guramatunhu 75)

A great result for Bellevue whose tally of four points out of a possible six makes this their best-ever start to a season.

The visitors took an unexpected lead in the first minute of the game. Pressing high up the pitch, a ball out from Johnstown was misplaced straight to Sam Alabi with nothing but an empty net in front of him and he duly opened the scoring.

Despite the early mistake, Johnstown were a competitive side, playing with relentless physicality and the game settled into a breathless end to end rhythm with both keepers making important saves to keep the score at 1-0 going in at the break.

The second half started much the same before gaps started opening up for both teams and the keepers were busy at their work.

Bobby Gregory pulled off an unbelievable stop at one end to prevent Johnstown levelling the scores.

Just a minute or two later it was substitute Nigel Guramatunhu with the heroics as he broke away in the box for a free header from a corner to make it 2-0.

Johnstown pushed on late into the game and forced Gregory into another incredible save, but Bellevue held on to the clean sheet and put the first three points of the season on the board.

In added time, there were red cards for Johnstown’s Alfie Griffiths, assistant-manager Hari Little and, following the final whistle, home team manager Michael Bailey, Adam Sumner for the visitors also saw a second yellow.

CPD Caerwys 7
AFC Deeside 0

Two wins out of two for welcome returnees Caerwys, Ryan Carrington leading the way with four goals which came on 20, 30, 56 and 72 minutes.

Karl Bacon added a double on nine and 89, one a penalty, and Harvey Birch also struck on 37 minutes.

CPD Cei Connah 1
Skippy 2

Skippy took the lead on 40 minutes through Levi Davies, but Mitchell Williams levelled in injury time at the end of the first half.

The visitors clinched the points four minutes into the second half with an own goal from Luke Williams.

Division 2

Brymbo 1
Aston Park Rangers 7

Ruthless Rangers hit seven on the road.

Kallum Pierce delivered a double on 20 and 56 minutes, as did Andy Cook with 45 and 46 on the clock, while there were singles from Adam Randles (27), Matthew Dixon (63) and Robbie Williams (66).

Damien Daniels notched a consolation for the Steelmen after 70.

Overton Recreation 2
Acton 3

Harry Massey’s missed penalty in the 93rd minute cost Overton a draw.

Massey had scored for the hosts on 37 minutes and Joshua Betteley netted after 80, but Acton took the spoils with goals from Liam Davies (14 min), Kyle Coppack (20) and Alix Godfrey (78).
