NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE DIVISION ONE REPORTS AND TABLE – AUGUST 2

Mold (14) 180-3 Bangor 2nd XI (1) 179-9

Ewan Hill scored a season’s best 78 as leaders Mold continued their relentless run of victories at the expense of visitors Bangor seconds.

The away side won the toss and elected to bat, setting 179-9 off 45 overs, Sion Llwyd scoring 41 and Saif Ijaz 31, while for Mold, Munowar Samsodien picked up 4-22 off nine and Isaac Allen 3-21 from nine.

Making light of potentially tricky run chases has been Mold’s speciality this season, and they eased to the winning line again, posting 180-3 off 40.2.

Hill and Louis Boulton (61) put on 143 for the second wicket to pretty much seal the game.

Brymbo 2nd XI (2) 177-10 Pontblyddyn (13) 225-10

Vishwa Manawaduge struck a maiden century for Pontblyddyn in his team’s win at Brymbo.

Manawaduge scored 113 off 80 balls, hitting 17 fours and a six as Pont chalked up 225 all out off 40.4, Ross Roberts collecting 4-37 for the Steelmen’s 2nd XI.

In reply, Brymbo were all out for 177, Jason Taylor 58 and Joss Roberts 38, Osian Jones scooping 4-30 for the visitors, Rhys Jones 2-6 and man of the day Manawaduge 2-32.

Connah’s Quay (2) 147-10 Hawarden Park (13) 209-6

Evan Shaw hit a career best 124 in Hawarden Park’s effort of 209-6 off 45 overs, James Taylor adding 50 not out, Lee Davies bagging 3-29 for the hosts.

Quay were sent packing for 147, Joshua Clarke 40 and Kavindu Wijethunga 34, Ian Martin a superb 5-20 off eight, Tom Norris 2-15 and Michael Wootton 2-37 for the winning team.

Halkyn (4) 156-9 Llandudno (11) 164-10

Close one at Pant Newydd, where a crucial 76 from Llandudno’s evergreen Kevin James proved the decisive knock.

Tudno chose to bat and were all out for 164, James’ 86-ball innings including nine fours and three sixes by far the highest score, while for Halkyn, Alex North snapped up 2-14, Nathan Roett and Ben Roberts both 2-32.

The hosts were going well at 102-3 in reply, but finished up on 156-9, Roett 53, Keegan Armstrong 3-16 for the visitors.

Mochdre 2nd XI (15) 207-10 Dolgellau (0) 77-10

Big win for Mochdre seconds, Adam Buckley hitting 49 and Owen Opie 35 in their total of 207, Callum Taylor 3-33, Jack Williams 2-14 and Jonathan Lloyd 2-16 for Dolgellau, who were blasted out for just 77, Andrew Butlin 3-9 and James Gilman 3-24.

Northop 2nd XI (1) 153-10 Gresford (14) 237-4

Gresford piled up 237-4 off 45 overs Wes Evans 53, skipper Gareth Bell 43 not out and Daniel Williams 42, Mark Poynton taking 2-42 for Northop seconds, who were all back in the hutch for 153, James Roberts 52 and Darren Williams 32 no, Mohammadi Gul 3-19, Cam Evans 3-41 and Tom Crewe 2-29 for the victorious visitors.
