Liverpool & District Competition: Hall win again to stay joint top, mixed fortunes for Bay

1ST XI SECOND DIVISION
St Helens Town (4) 96-10 Northop Hall (25) 220-9 dec
Finley Jenkins’ senior career best 73 guided Northop Hall to a winning total at Ruskin Drive on Saturday.
A maximum points return for the North Wales side kept them level with leaders Ainsdale at the Division Two summit.
Hall won the toss and batted, posting 220-9 declared off 50 overs, Jenkins’ knock including eight fours, with opener Jac Kennedy adding 42.
In reply, St Helens Town were blown away for 96 by a mixture of spin and pace.
Carwyn Johnson claimed 5-38 off 11 overs, while left-arm slow bowler Paul Jenkins made it 62 league wickets for the season with 5-51 from 13 – his seventh five-for of 2025.
Norley Hall (9) 230-6 dec Prestatyn (6) 181-8
Improving Prestatyn battled it out for a draw at City Road.
Norley Hall called the coin correctly and batted, chalking up 230-6 declared off 53 overs, having been 134-6, Alex Martlew making 84 not out and Ryan Wood 62 no.
Visiting skipper Adam Tidswell pocketed 4-60 off 24 overs, while Benjamin Hughes took 2-78.
In response, Prestatyn openers Kieron Tidswell (72) and Andy Taylor (61) put on an excellent 107 before wickets began to fall steadily.
Hughes ended 29 not out as the visitors’ innings closed on 181-8, Liam Martlew 4-23 for Norley.
1ST XI ECB PREMIER LEAGUE
Leigh 1st XI (23) 120-4 Colwyn Bay XI (3) 117-10
A weak batting effort at Leigh cost Colwyn Bay dearly.
Electing to take first knock, the Bay were dismissed for just 117, Zack Gidlow best with 35 and Matt Russell adding 25, Adam Shallcross 4-21 for the hosts.
Leigh hit back with 120-4, Tom Clarke 2-20 and Matt Russell 2-26 for the visitors.
2ND XI FIRST DIVISION
Colwyn Bay 2nd XI (20) 122-5 Old Xaverians 2nd XI (4) 121-10
James Jones had a great all-round game for a winning Bay side at Penrhyn Avenue.
Jones took 5-35 as Old Xaverians were dismissed for a modest 121, Shay Williams scooping 3-37 and Will Spillane 2-23.
Bay reached a winning 122-5, Jones hitting 45, the same score as opener Zane Roy, who ended not out.
Northop Hall 2nd XI (6) 137-10 New Brighton 2nd XI (25) 187-7 dec
Put into bat, visitors New Brighton set 187-7 declared, Ben Ellis 60, Ben Arden 4-60 and Nathan Hicks 2-50 for Hall, who could only muster 137 all out in response, number 10 Sion Hellen top-scoring with 23.
