They were the toast of North Wales football at the weekend after reaching the FAW Youth Cup final.

So who are the lads who make up the Caernarfon Town Development team?

Here are a few interesting facts…

  • All of the starting 11 which beat Newport County 3-1 in Sunday’s semi-final are Welsh speakers.
  • Goalkeeper Hari Thomas, 18, has already made 15 first team appearances for Caernarfon Town and won the Cymru Premier Save of the Season award for 2023-24 at the age of just 17
  • Osian Thomas, 16, is the son of Caernarfon Town legend Darren Thomas, the ‘Cofi Messi’  who has made 382 appearances for the club and scored 141 goals. Darren holds the record for the most Cymru Premier appearances for Caernarfon (184 + 6 play-off games).
  • Captain Ioan Williams, 17, has also appeared for the Canaries in the Cymru Premier. His dad is Emrys Williams, a commanding centre-half who represented Caernarfon in the League of Wales in the 1990s and 2000s and made 158 appearances.
  • The likes of Caron Williams, William Xie, Osian Ellis and Osian Evans have all featured in first team squads for Caernarfon.
  • Gwion Parry, 17, has already netted a number of goals in senior football for tier 5 side CPD Gaerwen.
  • Striker Hari Lambe has scored in all four rounds of the FAW Youth Cup this season – a total of five goals – and netted 10 times in the FAW National Academi North Development League, making him joint second-highest marksman in the competition.

The 2024/25 FAW Youth Cup Final between Caernarfon Town and Haverfordwest County will be played on Sunday 6 April, with the venue and kick-off time to be confirmed in due course.
