North Wales Cricket League reports Divisions 1-4

Saturday, July 20

DIVISION ONE

Buckley (2) 143-9 Bethesda (13) 145-4

Ben Parker again proved his ability as one of the best all-rounders in the league when he starred with bat and ball for Bethesda in Saturday’s win at Lane End.

Parker took 4-19 and then struck an unbeaten half-century as Pesda romped to a six-wicket success which kept them second in Division One.

Top talent Parker is currently on 370 runs and 21 wickets in the league this season.

Bucks were put into bat and limited to 143-9 off 45 overs, Parker’s four-for coming off nine overs, while John Maloney picked up 2-34.

Parker then ended on 58 not out as the Ogwen side made it to 145-4 in just 31.5 to wrap up a 13-2 victory, Ollie Fellows 2-37 for the hosts.

Halkyn (3) 100-10 Brymbo 2nd XI (12) 101-6

Gareth Pugh claimed 4-10 and notched vital runs in his team Brymbo seconds’ four-wicket triumph at Pant Newydd.

Halkyn were dismissed for just 100, Sam Hamilton 36, Pugh well supported by Jack Williams (2-21) and Ioan Craven-Jones (2-24).

Brymbo seconds reached 101-6 in 21.4, Williams 28 and Pugh 21, Nathan Lavender scooping 4-45 for the hosts.

Pontblyddyn (12) 147-8 Mold (3) 71-10

Chris Moss was the star bowler with a four-wicket haul as Pontblyddyn successfully defended a modest total of 147-8, bowling out Mold for just 71.

Put into bat, Pont were limited to 147-8 off 45, Osian Jones 28 and Ethan Roberts 25 not out for the hosts, Munowar Samsodien 3-47 for the away team.

Mold’s batting fell apart, Moss with 4-25, Rhys Jones 3-20 and Osian Jones 2-4 for the victors.

Sunday, July 21

St Asaph 2nd XI (4) 136-9 Bangor 2nd XI (11) 151-9

Chris Barry (batting) made 60 for Bangor seconds

Captain Chris Barry hit 60 and Peter Jones 49 in Bangor seconds’ winning total of 151-9 on Sunday at Elwy Park Grove.

Barry and Jones put on a vital 77 for the third wicket after the Citizens were invited to bat first.

Ankush Upadhyaya snapped up 3-22 and Mike Thompson 2-20 for the hosts, who were then restricted to 136-9, Hadi Zaidi 2-15, Matthew Flynn 2-21 and Saif Ijaz 2-30 for an impressive away attack.

Saturday, July 20

Bersham (13) 89-4 Gresford 2nd XI (2) 88-10

Shins Varghese grabbed a stunning 6-5 off eight overs as Bersham demolished Gresford seconds’ batting line-up for just 88.

It was a career-best for Varghese in three seasons with the club.

In response, Bersham raced to 89-4 in just 11.2 overs, Sathyajith Ihalagama 42 for the hosts, Owain Walker 3-25 for the visitors.

Carmel and District (4) 188-7 Pontblyddyn 2nd XI (11) 189-9

Pont seconds squeezed out a one-wicket victory with seven balls to spare.

Inserted by the visitors, Carmel set 188-7 off 40, skipper Ben Sim 54, Ryan Roberts 36, Gareth Jones 2-16 and Sam Andrews 2-28 for the away team.

Pont got home on 189-9, skipper Dave Evans 52, Gareth Jones 32, Noah Murray-Jones 4-37 and Jeivishnu Prithivaraj 3-33 for Carmel.

Llay Welfare (14) 82-2 Llanrwst (1) 81-8

In a game reduced to 30 overs per side, Llanrwst were always going to be struggling after mustering just 81-8, Tom Parry 2-10 and Nathan Humphreys 2-16 for the hosts.

Llay coasted to 82-2 off just 13 overs, Joe Howell 32 and Jacob Roberts 29 no.

Marchwiel and Wrexham (14) 69-3 Corwen (1) 68-10

A spell of 4-8 off just four overs from Anthony Morris sent Corwen tumbling and set up leaders Marchwiel and Wrexham for another win which sees them 33 points clear.

Scott Lawrenson also pocketed 2-9 and Muhammad Ghufran 2-10 for the hosts, whose decision to put the visitors in proved a good one.

Skipper Sam Shoemark led the way with 31 as the table-toppers sped to 69-3 in just 9.5 overs.

DIVISION THREE

Connah’s Quay 2nd XI (0) 107-10 Ruthin (15) 237-3

Centuries are so rare in the league this season, but Jac Evans managed one in Ruthin’s 15-0 hammering of hosts Connah’s Quay seconds.

Evans banked his second ton of 2024, hitting 113 against a home side which opted to field first.

Dafydd Roberts made 51 not out and Osian Roberts 50, Jake Chare 2-51 for the Deesiders.

Quay were bowled out for 107, Ned Roberts 3-16, Joshua Duckworth 2-22 and player of the day Jac Evans 2-26.

Denbigh 2nd XI (13) 121-4 Gwersyllt Park 2nd XI (2) 119-10

Robert Schrimshaw’s 4-11 off eight overs and John Lloyd-Williams’ 3-14 did most to ensure Gwersyllt Park seconds were dismissed for just 119, Shashika Meistry 39 no.

Denbigh seconds hit back with a winning 121-4, Darren Nixon 35 not out and Andy Thomas retired on 29, Ryan McCarthy 2-26 for the Wrexham outfit.

Mold 2nd XI (15) 137-1 Buckley 2nd XI (0) 186-7

Facing a reduced target due to weather intervention, Mold seconds recorded a nine-wicket success.

Buckley seconds made a very useful 186-7 off their 40, Sam Evans 49 not out, Joshua Murray 35 and Johnny Hewitt 32, Craig Roberts 2-34 for the hosts.

Mold passed the winning line on 137-1, Roberts 46 not out, skipper Chris Boulton 41, George Jones 36 no.

Vipin Shylajan nabbed 3-4, Jithin Joseph 2-8 and Santhu Kj 2-15 as Bersham seconds skittled out Abergele seconds for a mere 65, then reached a winning 66-2 in just 9.2 in response, Aneesh Pattali 30.

Corwen 2nd XI (0) 58-10 Llandudno 2nd XI (15) 59-1

Shana Kelly took a magnificent 5-20 as Llandudno seconds rolled over Corwen seconds for just 58, then Tudno eased to 59-1 in 7.1, Ajay Dhawan 29 no.

Ruthin 2nd XI (13) 199-4 Hawarden Park 3rd XI (2) 58-4

Ieuan Wynne Lewis (55) and Jamie Hughes (47 not out) were chief contributors in Ruthin seconds’ winning total of 199-4, Gethin Birchall 2-27 and V Kumar 2-42 for the visitors.

Given 20 overs to make 126 for victory, Hawarden Park thirds could only manage 56-4, John Cooper 29, Jones Roberts 2-2 off five for the hosts.
