Llandudno have signed the son of a Bangor football great in a bid to improve their fortunes in 2024.
Left-midfielder Cameron Barry has switched Cymru North clubs, leaving Bangor 1876 to try his luck at the OPS Wind Arena with Tudno.
The 20-year-old is the son of former Bangor City, Porthmadog, Cemaes Bay, Llangefni Town and Glantraeth midfielder Nigel Barry, who was later influential in the development of top youth talent for the Citizens.
Cameron joined Bangor 1876 when the club formed in 2019-20, making well in excess of 100 appearances for the club and netting 21 goals,
His best return came in 2021-22, when he scored 11 times as 1876 won the North Wales Coast West Premier Division Cup and gained promotion to tier 3 Ardal North West.
Cameron’s first goal for 1876 came in their third game – a 10-0 win over Caergybi in a Gwynedd League fixture on August 19, 2019.
He bagged a hat-trick in a 9-1 away win at Gaerwen in 2021-22.
Cameron’s last goal for the blues came as recently as Boxing Day in a 4-0 victory at Porthmadog.
However, seeking more regular game time, he has now decided to join Llandudno’s quest to rise up the Cymru North.
Cameron said: “I’m delighted to join Llandudno. There’s a great group of lads here and I can’t wait to get started.
“We’ve got to keep fighting and climbing up that league table which hopefully I can help with.”
After a difficult start to the season, Llandudno have risen to 11th in the Cymru North, boosted by a recent haul of 13 points from five games, but they suffered back-to-back 5-1 defeats versus title hopefuls Flint Town United over Christmas and New Year.
