Bangor 1876 have continued their pursuit of young talent this summer by announcing a third signing.

Former Wrexham academy player Osian Hughes is the latest to agree to join 1876 ahead of the new season.

The 18 year old from Bethesda spent eight years at Wrexham and plays in midfield.

He signed a two year scholarship deal at the Racecourse as a 16-year-old and also had loan spells at Bangor City and Conwy Borough.

During his time at the Racecourse, Osian represented Wrexham in the FA Youth Cup. He appeared in a memorable 5-2 win at home to Solihull Moors in this competition last season.

Osian is keen to get started with Bangor 1876 when it is possible to start playing again, and said: “I’ve decided that this is the best environment in which to continue my development. I want to get back to enjoying my football again. The thought of being part of the club’s project is really amazing.”

The teenager’s arrival follows the capture of 20-year old midfielder Gethin Thomas (pictured below).

The Wales under-19 Colleges international spent the first half of last season with Porthmadog before joining Nantlle Vale in January.

Gethin is from Llanrug and managed to get on the scoresheet for both Porthmadog and Nantlle Vale last term.

He will be a familiar face to many at 1876 as he has previously played with a number of squad members and worked with several of the club’s coaches.

He said: “I am delighted to be able to take this opportunity to commit to Bangor 1876 and I can’t wait to be back playing again soon. I am very excited and motivated to contribute to this brilliant journey and continue to grow as a player.”

Sam Roberts, 20, also recently signed for 1876.

He spent the last two years at Llanrwst, having previously been an academy player at both Wrexham and Connah’s Quay Nomads.
