Best photos from the 2019-20 women’s football season

There were some fantastic photos taken during the last North Wales women’s football season.

I was privileged enough to be able to use some of them.

Here’s a marvellous selection of the best…….thanks so much to all who supplied pictures, the coverage would be nothing without them

Amlwch Town captain Carol Lewis always makes a good photo. The main reason is the tremendous passion she has for the game is written all over her. Here, she celebrates what I believe was a marvellous goal. And look how happy team-mate Charley Smith is for her. Amlwch’s brilliant photographer Gethin Jones takes the credit.
And talking of Charley Smith here is a cracker of her taking a throw-in for Amlwch. More great work from Gethin Jones. Charley is also a referee and assistant, and all-round amazing person
A surprise name appears in the list of super snappers this year – Mr Jay Catton. Yes, he of Connah’s Quay Nomads fame! Jay took some photos at the Women’s Welsh Cup tie between Nomads and Welsh Premier Port Talbot, which the Deesiders amazingly won 2-1. One of the Quay scorers was Candice Nellist, the No 9 caught here about to launch a left-foot strike. Sharp work Jay!
Two major forces in combat here. Left is Corwen defender and player-manager Alaw Davies-Smith, a past Welsh Premier player and Grassroots North Wales Player of the Season, aiming to stop Bethel’s livewire forward Ffion Williams in her tracks. Taking the photo on this occasion was Sian Armstrong of Corwen
A smile from Cara Hughes brightens everyone’s day and she was delighted here to announce her return to former club Pwllheli. On the Pwllheli website were the words ‘she is loved and respected wherever she goes’. What a lovely thing to read – and so true!
Only a small one, but great to see a player so proud of her Player of the Match award. In the case of Elin Arwen of Llanberis, it was a box of Jaffa Cakes…..and she makes cakes for a living! Check out Cacennau Elin on Facebook
No-one has been more helpful in the women’s game to me than Charley Davies of Llanberis. Here is a cracker of No 4 Charley taking a free kick against Caernarfon. I think this one ended up in the net. She scored an even better one at NFA later in the season. Diolch Charley!
Always on the ball, always aware of what’s going on around her. Midfield ace Cerys Gadd. Take a bow Cer! Great close-up shot from Gethin Jones. Diolch eto Gethin.
Always great to meet a new team and in the case of the Recreational League this season, one of the very best were Penrhyn Bay Panthers. Instant friends and the sort of ladies who will always have your back.
This is one of my photos. Most of mine are rubbish but this one of another great young player to emerge this season, Jess Mills, is clear enough. I was pretty much standing on the field of play to get this one
Absolute corker of one of the players of the season – Ffion Mair Roberts of Llanberis
Has there ever been a happier goalscorer than Hannah Jones of Bethel?
Another team I love to bits. Joyous newcomers Holywell Town
Three fantastic girls who got Llanfairfechan Town Ladies moving….Rachel Evans, Kelsey Robinson and Maddie Williams
Best promo pic of pre-season – the NFA ladies
Two of the best midfielders in North Wales share a crunching challenge – NFA’s Rachel Lloyd (left) and Charley Davies of Llanberis
Mum and daughter on the same team! Daughter (and future mum) Sadie Richards and her mother Debbie Flanagan played for Llanfairfechan in 2019-20
