Looking back at the Festive 50, I left out a number of players who on another day I’d have remembered in an instant and picked in a heartbeat.
I couldn’t let it go, so here are the Christmas Bonus 10. This is not a ‘close misses consolation 10‘ – every one of these players stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the Festive 50.
There are so many more I could have selected, but you have to stop somewhere.
Captain Fantastic not just for Amlwch Town but also the Ynys Môn women’s team which finished a highest-ever fifth place in an official Island Games during 2023.
Carol competed in her fourth Island Games this year (five if you include the one-off Inter-Games Tournament of 2019 in which Anglesey landed the silver medal).
The skipper featured in 23 games for Amlwch in 2023, including a brilliant 10-match unbeaten run which guided them to an excellent fifth-place finish in the North Wales League – a great achievement considering they struggled to get a team together at the start of the season.
Elder sister of Rosie and a player who is constantly improving in a Flint shirt, having played in 19 matches during 2023 and netting eight goals.
She has been a key member of a Silkwomen side on a 10-match winning streak dating back to the end of the 2022-23 season.
Left-winger who offers a tremendous work-rate, this apprentice engineer really stood out when scoring twice in a 3-2 win at NFA in May.
So great, Marc Jacobs named a perfume after her.
These two qualify for a joint-selection as the Bellevue heroes who scored a hat-trick apiece in the Wrexham team’s first-ever win – a 6-0 beating of Welshpool Town in September.
Whatever Bellevue go on to achieve, what these two girls did will go down in club folklore and never be forgotten.
Truly consistent performer who featured in 22 games for Amlwch in 2023, scoring five times.
She was also part of the Ynys Môn squad which excelled at the Island Games in Guernsey.
This has also been a memorable year for Emma off the field. In 2024, she will take up a new job with the FAW, having spent many productive years as a community sports development officer with Môn Actif.
Just like her amazing team-mate Sofie Owen, long-serving Stacey has been a leading figure in the successes of a revitalised Llandudno Ladies team in the past two years.
In 2021-22, midfield ace Stacey scored a career-best 20 goals as Tudno clinched the first Adran North league title and the NWCFA Challenge Cup.
She has been excellent again in 2023, both as a goalscorer and assist-provider. This year she has featured in 22 games, scoring 11 goals, including seven this season.
This busy bee spent most of 2023 with NFA before joining CPD Y Rhyl 1879 at the end of the year.
Attacking left-back who never stops running from start to finish, Chloe featured in 20 matches during 2023 and is thrilled at the prospect of a fresh start in 2024 with the Lilywhites.
Magical player over many seasons for Wrexham – Rebecca was involved long before the Hollywood fairy tale.
She remains a vital player for the team, so often coming up with important goals, none more so than the 75th minute winner against Briton Ferry Llansawel in the Adran Premier play-off final in April.
Rebecca played in 21 matches for Wrexham in 2023, netting five times.
Unsung hero maybe – not to us!
Still only 19, Ellie remains one of the best young players on the North Wales scene, always giving 100 percent in every game.
Played in 22 matches for Amlwch in 2023, scoring a superb 15 goals!
Also a class act with the Ynys Môn Island Games team which did so well in Guernsey.
While Jess Jones and Jen Cox get many plaudits as Llangefni goal heroes, Ellie also contributes a great deal to the forward line.
Her height often serves her well as a link player, but she scores plenty of goals too.
Ellie played in 29 matches for Cefni in 2023, netting 14 goals. She helped Llangefni finish third in the North Wales Women’s League last season.
Always a consistent performer in the Felinheli attack, 22-year-old Fflur played in 23 games for the team this year, scoring on 11 occasions including a hat-trick against CPDM Bangor in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup.
Fflur was in the Felinheli side which lifted the NWCFA Challenge Cup in April, beating her former club Llandudno 3-2 in the final.
