New date for local sports festival

Ahead of the new season, Wrexham Foresters is looking forward to holding its Fun Day at Plas Coch, Wrexham on Saturday 29 August 2026.

The free event, which runs from 10:00 – 19:00, is open to everyone and has been designed to celebrate the start of the new season. The Festival was originally planned to take place in June but extreme hot weather meant that it had to be postponed.

The Festival combines friendly netball and football tournaments with all sorts of family fun, including entertainment, games, bouncy castles, food stalls, and local crafts. There will also be the opportunity to find out more about joining the club as a player or supporter.

Adam Alfi, Wrexham Foresters’ chief officer commented: “We are looking forward to welcoming the local community to our Football Festival at the end of August (29 August). We are excited for the new season, and we would love as many people as possible to come along and find out more about the club and our future plans.”

Grassroots to Glory – Wrexham Foresters’ vision is to provide tomorrow’s sporting professionals for Wales. The club plans to achieve this by developing an inclusive, community-first, children-first sports club, which has clear pathways for sports lovers.

The club started out focusing on men’s, women’s and grassroots football and futsal, but the club has now expanded its reach to include netball too.

Netball Club

Now competing as Wrexham Foresters Netball, the club was originally Phoenix Netball. It started in 2022 as a Back to Netball training session, providing women with the opportunity to return to the sport, improve their fitness, and enjoy netball in a fun and supportive environment.

The goal of the club is to provide opportunities for players of all ages and abilities to enjoy netball, develop their skills, make lifelong friendships, and be part of something special. There are three social teams, six competitive teams, two mixed teams and six junior teams.

Football Club

Wrexham Foresters Football Club is a grassroots football club, which aims to foster inclusivity, develop local talent and create pathways for players of all abilities. It is committed to building a strong community presence, while establishing competitive men’s and women’s professional teams, which its fanbase can get behind with hope and pride.

The club is now in its second season and embodying its values including passion, compassion, teamwork and leadership. Its women’s team won the Central Wales North League last season with an unbeaten record and have been promoted to the Tier 2 Cymru North for 2026-27.
