Bangor 1876 1 Holywell Town 4

Revenge for Holywell following their 3-2 Nathaniel MG Cup home loss to Bangor 1876 at the start of the season.

The Wellmen stretched their unbeaten league record to eight matches and ended the night four point clear at the summit.

On a breezy evening at Nantporth, the visitors took the lead early on when a defensive mix-up allowed Jake Cooke to chip the ball over Huw Shaw from just outside the penalty area.

Following a corner a few minutes later, the visitors had another chance but Thomas Bibby headed over the bar at the back post.

They threatened twice more within the opening 10 minutes. First of all, Ryan Edwards saw his low long range effort from a free-kick parried by Shaw and then Bibby headed wide from the resultant corner.

However, Holywell did manage to extend their advantage in the 11th minute when Danny Andrews broke through the middle and beat Shaw at the second attempt.

A minute later, Cooke came close to making it three with a shot that was parried at full stretch by Shaw.

The ensuing corner then struck the post and was cleared.

The flurry of chances spurred Bangor into action. After seeing his initial shot from the right of the penalty area saved, Sam Jones showed composure to play the ball across goal to Liam Morris, who found the net with a calm finish.

Holywell had a goal ruled out before almost immediately afterwards, Bangor had a chance at the other end, but Iolo Hughes headed narrowly wide from a corner.

At the midway point of the opening period, Holywell went 3-1 up when Julian Williams netted from close range after Shaw could only parry a shot from just outside the area by Mark Winslade.

Ten minutes before the break, Town opened up a three-goal advantage when Zebb Edwards scored from the penalty spot after Shaw fouled Winslade inside the area.

Near to half time, Bangor’s Sam Jones saw his shot from a tight angle well saved by Shaun Pearson before the visiting keeper held Dan Cox’s follow-up effort.

After the thrills of the first 45 minutes, the second half was a no-goals show.

Ruthin Town 1 Guilsfield 2

Sam Jones gave Ruthin a 37th minute lead, but Callum Bromley equalised just before half time and Reece Warder delivered the decider for Guilsfield in the 52nd.

Llanrwst went top of Ardal North West after a strong second half performance at Llangefni.

The Rwsters turned the tables after the break, Math Thomas bringing them level on the hour before Callum Parry made it 2-1 on 70 with his 17th goal of the season via a back-post finish.

Soon after, United had Leon Doran sent off for a second bookable offence.
