FAW TROPHY ROUND TWO REPORTS – SEPTEMBER 30

CPD Nefyn United 1 CPD Pwllheli 2

The much-awaited Pen Llŷn derby ended in victory for the visitors as an Ashley Ainsworth double guided Pwllheli into the third round.

Tier 4 Nefyn took an early lead at Cae’r Delyn, but ended up with nine men, Ainsworth netting on 64 and 87 minutes to win the day for the Ardal North West third-tier away side.

The Penwaig had a great start when Dylan Sion Jones put them ahead in just the fifth minute, Llyr Pennant Williams with the assist.

It stayed 1-0 up to the interval, the first 45 minutes featuring six yellow cards.

Things started to wobble for United five minutes into the second half when Llyr Pennant Williams was dismissed for a second yellow card.

In the 64th minute Ainsworth made it one-apiece, then as the tie approached the closing stages Nefyn’s Dan Roberts also received his marching orders after a second caution.

A minute later Ainsworth plundered the deciding goal for Pwllheli.

Hats off to Monty!

Two weeks after a 13-1 Welsh Cup defeat at Mold Alex, the Central Wales League North outfit bounced back in the Trophy to run out 3-0 winners at Wern Mynach, Lee Jones, Jack Williams and Thomas Halliday with the second-half goals.

Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs 0 CPD Y Felinheli 1

Tier 3 Ardal North West side Felinheli were expected to win at their Tier 5 opponents, but they only did so by the one goal, Dylan Jones heading home in first half added time from a Cal Macdonald assist.

CPD Bro Cernyw 3 CPD Gronant 4

David O’Neill’s 91st minute clincher decided a seven-goal thriller in Tier 5 Gronant’s favour against Cernyw from Tier 4.

Ste Kirk and Kallum Pierce (2) netted the rest for the visitors, Cai Price (2, 1 pen) and William Hughes replying for the North Wales Coast East Premier Division hosts.

Brymbo 0 Kinmel Bay 12

A dozen goals away from home and a reason to consult the record books for Kinmel Bay, who are really beginning to find their feet after a difficult start to the campaign.

Connor Morris led the way with a hat-trick, Oliver Gray and Tate Walker both scored twice, and there were singles for captain Paddy Hamid, Jacob Jones, Nyal Hughes, Anthony Jones and Elliott Turner.

CPD Caer Clwyd 0 FC Plas Madoc 6

Resounding win on the road for Madoc, captain Nicky Williams and Ryan Jakovlevs netting twice, Jamie Williams and Lee Price adding one each.

CPD Cefni 0 Greenfield 3

Ben Sim, Ryan Jones and Bailey Roberts grabbed the goals that sent Greenfield through to round three.

Coedpoeth United 5 CPD Llansannan 1

Evan Thomas (2), Adam Lloyd, Tom Lloyd and Oliver Lewis served up the goals for a dominant Coedpoeth, Luke Appleby with a late reply in this all-Tier 4 encounter.

Connah’s Quay Town 4 Rhydymwyn 1

Comfortable for the Quay, Lee Jones (penalty), Andy Jones (2) and Lee Reynolds splitting the goals in a 4-1 success over Rhydymwyn, who hit back through Nathan Williams.

Glantraeth 5 Caergybi 0

Caergybi were up against it from the 27th minute against higher-ranked opposition when they had Nathan Roberts red-carded.

By half time, a Jamie Roberts penalty and Connor Gordon goal had put Glantraeth two-up.

In the second period, Arwel Williams, Luke Winter and Andy Clarke added further goals for the home team.

Hawarden Rangers 3 Lex XI 3 (Hawarden won 3-2 on penalties)

Tier 4 underdogs Lex pushed their hosts from the Tier 3 Ardal North West all the way before heartbreakingly exiting on spot-kicks.

James Ratcliffe (2) and Aaron North struck for Hawarden, Tom Huxley (2) and James Rogers ensuring the Law ended up level.

Despite being down to 10 men at 3-1 behind after Ricky Evans was shown a second yellow on 76 minutes, the visitors scored twice past the 90 to force penalties.

Sadly their fightback was in vain as Rangers won 3-2 on pens.

Holyhead Town 0 CPD Penrhyndeudraeth 3

Gwion Davies, Albert Nosakhare and Reece Evans supplied the goals which made sure Penrhyn advanced at Millbank.

CPD Llanberis 7 Bethesda Rovers 0

Morgan Roberts led the charge with a hat-trick as the Darans rattled up a magnificent seven against Rovers, who were only one-down at the break.

Dion Owen (pen), Ifan Mansoor, Gethin Maxwell and Cai Edwards were also on target for Llanberis.

Llandudno Junction 1 Bethesda Athletic 3

Tier 3 Bethesda claimed a good win at the Flyover, Cian Williams, Daniel Hughes and Kian Hughes their marksmen, Harry Kirkham replying.

Jay Whitehouse put NFA on their way to victory at Cae Nant with early goals on five and 17 minutes.

Antonio Jacovelli and Owen Jones added further net-finders for the Rhyl visitors in the second half, Robert Lawson with a consolation for Llandyrnog.

The home team had Christopher Sion Evans dismissed on 85 for two yellow cards and the same fate befell Dylan Cunnah of NFA after 88.

Llanrug United 8 Aberffraw 0

Jamie McDaid struck four times for Llanrug to make it 10 goals in his last four games and 13 for the season.

Jonathan Sadler added a hat-trick and Osian Williams also found the target.

Llanystumdwy 1 Mochdre Sports 4

A long trip and an horrendous rainy day at Parc Dwyfor for Mochdre, but the players worked hard to secure a 4-1 win and passage to the next round.

Ste Falvey (2), Chris Smyth and Rees Brown shared the goals for the visitors, whose man of the match was Kai Davies.

Owen Pritchard replied with a penalty for Llanystumdwy, who were unable to repeat their giant-killing of Llannerchymedd in the previous round.

Meliden 3 FC Queen’s Park 0

A fantastic win for red-hot Meliden over last season’s North East Wales League Premier Division champions.

The Miners made it seven straight wins in all competitions thanks to a double from captain Joe Roberts and a Frankie Davies net-buster.

Overton Recreation 1 Llangollen Town 3

Meuryn Hughes, Keiron Hughes and Jake Hayward delivered the goals that mattered for Tier 3 Llangollen, the prolific Harry Massey providing Overton’s response.

The hosts had James Parry red-carded in the 85th minute, just before Massey notched their consolation goal.

Penmaenmawr Phoenix 6 Amlwch Town 0

Phoenix hit the opposition for six at Cae Sling, Alfie Caldecott bagging a brace, Ricky Jones, Liam Griffiths, Ian Pattinson and Harry Benjamin one apiece.

CPD Pentraeth 4 Abergele 0

Cracklng win for Pentraeth over last season’s NWCFA Junior Cup winners Abergele.

Osian Goulding, Dylan Jones (pen), Kian Abbott and Kian Zoller all made the scoresheet for the Anglesey team, who gave debuts to 16-year-olds Ifan Kotkowicz and Zoller from their Development squad.

Presteigne St Andrews 1 Dolgellau Athletic 3

A Gerwyn Williams double and a Matthew Tilson own goal were enough to seal Dolgellau’s place in round three.

Rhostyllen 0 St Asaph City 2

Goals from Alfie Vaughan on 29 minutes and Tyler Joyce after 76 booked St Asaph’s progress in the Trophy against Rhostyllen, who had Jack Brindley red-carded on 50.

Rhos United 3 Cemaes Bay 2

A fierce battle at Brookfield Drive produced a welcome victory for the hosts.

Chris King, Phemmy Allison and Ray Lee produced the home goals, Keenan Downey and Haydn Jones hitting back for the Anglesey travellers.

Ruabon Rovers 2 Aston Park Rangers 1

Hard-fought tussle at the Recreation Ground, but Ruabon prevailed thanks to goals from Dan Kebell and Leighton Kendrick inside the first 20 minutes.

Ryan Edge notched a late reply for Rangers to set up a tense finale.

Trearddur Bay A Llandudno Amateurs A

This match was abandoned before half time after Llandudno Amateurs players walked off the pitch with Bay 3-0 ahead.

A decision on what happens next is still awaited.

CPD Yr Wyddgrug 1 CPD Llannefydd 5

Tom Jones, Llion Morris, Morgan Owen, Lewys Jones and Stuart Vernon split the goals which put Tier 3 Llannefydd through at the expense of Tuer 5 underdogs Yr Wyddgrug.

Captain David Jones replied for the hosts, who were three-down inside 20 minutes.

Elgan Roberts was sent off for the visitors on 51 minutes for a second caution.
