NORTH WALES COAST WEST LEAGUE

Premier Division

Gwalchmai 3 (Bennett 43 & 90+2, Bentley 53)
CPD Llannerchymedd 2 (J Evans 25, C Roberts 90+5)

Man of the match Chris Bennett scored twice as Gwalchmai made it eight straight wins in all competitions and boosted their lead at the Premier Division summit to six points.

The weather made it difficult for both teams to get going at Maes Meurig, but Llan initially found a better momentum which made it hard for the home side to find second gear.

One or two decisions left everyone baffled, including when Kaine Bentley was taken down by Llan’s last man, which raised eyebrows as the referee took no action.

Llannerchymedd grabbed the first goal of the game in the 25th minute when Josh Evans benefited from an Aaron Green assist.

Gwalch needed to react and started to find a slightly better rhythm. The leaders levelled on the stroke of half time through Bennett.

Into the second half and Craig Evans’ men looked a lot more relaxed and played to their ability.

In the 53rd minute Bentley had a solo run, dazzling his way around three Llan defenders and maintaining his balance and composure to fire Gwalch 2-1 up with his 11th goal of the campaign.

Gwalch continued to play steady football and made it 3-1 in the 92nd minute when Bennett displayed great vision as he hit the ball home from 30 yards.

Llan were then awarded a penalty which was struck very well but saved by Caron Hughes. Luckily for Medd, they capitalised from the rebound as Callum Roberts made it 3-2.

Bennett put on a great display in the middle of the park and was deservedly named Man of the Match,

Gwalch host Llanrug United in the NWCFA Intermediate Cup this Saturday.
