Congratulations to Gwersyllt Parkchampions of North Wales Cricket League Division One 2023.

The Wrexham-area club are set for a return to the top flight Premier Division, where they previously spent just the one season in 2007.

Saturday saw Iroshan De Silva’s heroes crowned Division One kings as they beat Conwy by three wickets in front of their home supporters.

The visitors won the toss and battled, getting bowled out for 129 in 38 overs.

Vaughan Williams (37) and Calum Jones (30) were their chief contributors, while for Gwersyllt, skipper De Silva took a magnificent 5-17 off six overs, Daniel Jones with 2-22.

In reply, Park made it to 130-7 from 29.4, George Miles top-scoring with 41, while Tom Plank collected 4-39 for the visitors.

The celebrations went on long into the evening for Gwersyllt Park, who last lifted the Division One title in 2006.

Buckley (13) 212-9 Abergele (2) 142-10

Well played Louis Parry!

Skipper Louis Parry stepped up to the plate by top-scoring with the bat and picking up two wickets as Buckley did their survival hopes the world of good by beating Abergele.

A 70-run win for the Flintshire hosts lifted them out of the bottom three drop-zone, although they still have work to do in their remaining two matches to pull off the great escape.

Bucks were put in and piled up a very useful 212-9 off 45 overs, number eight bat Parry making 44, Joshua Murray 36, Alex Storey 31 and Ollie Fellows 29, David Moulson an excellent 2-13 from nine for Gele, Lewis Tolond 2-26.

In reply, Abergele slumped to 31-4 before recovering somewhat to finish 142 all out.

Fellows took 3-14, Adam Shaw 3-18 and captain Parry 2-25 to seal the man of the match accolade.

Moinak Pyne made 36 and Jitto Emmanuel 34 for the visitors, who picked up just two points, Buckley scooping 13.

Connah’s Quay (15) 272-9 Bethesda (0) 161-10

South African ace James Du Toit chalked up his second century of the season and passed the 900 league runs mark in his team’s 15-0 caning of Bethesda at Central Park.

Du Toit scored 112 off 110 balls, hitting seven fours and six sixes, also boosting his league aggregate to 919 runs in 2023 as the Quay amassed 272-9 off 45 overs after being put in.

The Springbok shared in an opening stand of 120 with skipper Tom Hooson (36).

Joshua Clarke went on to hit 70 from just 40 deliveries for the hosts, while for Pesda, Carwyn L Williams claimed 4-23 and Andrew Day 3-67.

Lee Davies then bagged 3-20 and Callum Miller 3-27 as the Ogwen Valley visitors were dismissed for 161, opener Williams completing a great personal display with 63.

Llay Welfare (13) 85-5 Menai Bridge 2nd XI (2) 84-10

Veteran David Phennah returned marvellous figures of 5-9 off nine overs as his Llay side rolled over Menai Bridge seconds for just 84 at The Ring.

Put into bat, the islanders’ batsmen had no answer to the Welfare attack, Alfie Guest also bowling well in snaring 2-21.

Llay got home fairly easily on 85-5 off 25.3, Jack Honey 23, Jacob Roberts 22 and man of the day Phennah 20, David Owen 2-18 for the Bridge.

Marchwiel and Wrexham (0) 49-10 Hawarden Park (15) 170-7

Chris Geary (47) and Owen Skillander (41) led the charge as Hawarden Park set a winning total of 170-7 off 45 overs after being invited to bat.

Gareth Evans pouched 3-33 and Sion Edwards 2-26 for Marchwiel and Wrexham, who were then blitzed out for only 49, Phil Oddie 21 no.

Michael Wootton snapped up 4-6 from six and Adam De Rycke 3-10 for the visitors, who triumphed by 121 runs and a 15-0 points margin.

Northop 2nd XI (15) 256-8 Dolgellau (0) 141-10

Wicket-keeper Henry Dowd struck 64 and Leo Greig 42 in Northop seconds’ awesome effort of 256-8 off 45 overs.

Moc Llywelyn gathered 2-20 for the visitors, who were then sent packing for 141, ensuring they made the long journey home without a single point.

Morgan Yorke stood out for Dol with a superb 74, while Stuart Evans posted 38, but no-one else could reach double figures.

Sandeep Anantharaman poached 4-30, Darren Williams 3-27 and Matthew Mullarkey 2-16 off nine for the resounding victors.
