Report: Llangefni Town

In beautiful conditions Llangefni had the perfect start when Ellie Coulson scored the opening goal of the season from a delightful Marissa George cross.

On 27 minutes dangerous Caernarfon striker Lisa Jones struck back for the hosts, bursting through and finishing at stopper Jess Marshall’s near post.

Llangefni took just seven minutes to respond when last season’s league top goalscorer Jen Cox turned provider with some lovely footwork in the box before pulling the ball back for Coulson to smash in her brace.

Soon after youngster Jess Jones capitalised on a Caernarfon mix up to tap in and make it 3-1

Just before half time Cox again showed she is becoming more than just goalscorer when she cushioned a delightful ball through to Jess Jones who finished with trademark calmness.

HALF-TIME: 1-4

Cefni added a fifth early in the second half and in the 72nd minute, Marissa George crossed in a wicked ball from a corner, Cox rose highest and headed a powerful strike into the top corner.

Changes were made with Sharlee Owen, Cadi Rees, Kaitlin Toulmin and Leonie Jones taking the field.

Llangefni weren’t done and just before full time the highly impressive Hannah Owen got her reward for a tireless performance after skipper Nia Ginnelly split the Caernarfon defence with a beautiful ball.

Bearing down on goal, Owen cut back, dropping one centre half and then finishing nicely to big celebrations from the Llangefni squad.

Manager Dan Gregg said: “Perfect day to be a manager today, every single player contributed from the starting 11 to the substitutes. It’s not often I get the chance to give the whole match day squad minutes in one game, so it’s always nice when works out this way.”
