Llangefni Town have issued an apology following an alleged racist comment made towards a Trearddur Bay player during tonight’s Ardal North West match at Cae Bob Parry.

It is believed that in the first half of the Tier 3 game, which Trearddur Bay won 5-1, an abusive remark of a racist nature was allegedly shouted at away player Christoph Aziamale from someone in a group of nearby home team supporters.

Referee Martin Trigg is now expected to report the matter to the FAW. Any further action is to be confirmed.

Llangefni Town tonight issued the following statement on its social media account.

Llangefni Town Football Club is deeply saddened and appalled by the racial incident that occurred during tonight’s match against Trearddur Bay.
Racism and discrimination of any kind have absolutely no place in our club, football, or in our community. We offer our sincere apologies to the player affected and to Trearddur Bay Football Club for this unacceptable behaviour.
Llangefni Town FC does not tolerate racism in any form. We are already working to identify the individual involved and will take the strongest possible action once they are identified.
We urge anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information to come forward and contact the club directly and in confidence.
Llangefni Town FC stands firmly for respect, equality, and inclusion—both on and off the pitch.
