Trearddur Bay Football Club have created a new shirt bearing an anti-racism message.
One of Bay’s players was subjected to an alleged racist slur during a match in Llangefni this week.
A youth has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Trearddur Bay released the following statement today: “Recently, one of our first-team players was subjected to racial abuse during a match in Llangefni. Racism has absolutely no place in football, or in any part of society, and we stand united in condemning it in the strongest possible terms.
“We would like to thank CPD Llangefni Town FC for addressing the incident quickly and professionally, and we are grateful to the FA Wales for their support and communication in the days following. We also understand that North Wales Police have arrested a youth in connection with the incident.
“As a club, we stand firmly against racism and all forms of discrimination. We will always support and stand with our players — and any player — who suffers abuse.
“To mark the FAW’s “Show Racism the Red Card” month, and to show solidarity with our squad, we have created a special-edition shirt which will be proudly worn by our senior teams.
“Thank you to Huw at Teejac Sports LTD for his support in helping us bring this initiative to life. Also a big thanks to Richard Lennon and NWIR who have sponsored the shirts.
“Together, we stand for respect, equality, and unity.”
