Liverpool Competition: Another Prestatyn win keeps them on promotion fringes

1ST XI SECOND DIVISION
Prestatyn (20) 117-6 Wavertree (4) 115-10
Fourth-place Prestatyn kept their outside promotion hopes alive with a four-wicket triumph at home to long-time rivals Wavertree on Saturday.
With three rounds of matches remaining in the 1st XI Second Division, Maghull lead the standings on 298 points, Fleetwood Hesketh have 263, Sutton 255 and Prestatyn 249.
This Saturday, Prestatyn face a true test of their mettle when they travel to table-toppers Maghull having won their last four completed matches.
Last weekend’s battle at Beach Close saw Liverpool side Wavertree put into bat and bowled out for 115 in 37 overs.
Shafiqullah Kamal was the home side’s star bowler with 6-37 off 16, while the ever-prolific Sampath Perera scooped 4-35 from 15.
Perera now has 61 league wickets for the season and needs eight more from three matches to beat his best total in a campaign for the club of 68 achieved in 2014.
The Sri Lankan then starred with the bat, making 47 as Prestatyn reached 117-6 in 25-1 to seal a 20-4 points win, Sheil Sethi adding 25.
Irby (20) 122-3 Northop Hall (2) 120-10
Hall could only muster 120 all out after being put into bat at Mill Hill Road, Michael Williamson top-scoring with 27.
Irby eased to 122-3 off 31.3 for a 20-2 points verdict.
1ST XI ECB PREMIER LEAGUE
Rainhill (5) Colwyn Bay (5)
Match abandoned without a ball being bowled.
Bay remain next-to-bottom, 21 points from safety with three rounds of matches remaining, and are home to third-place Northern this Saturday.
2ND XI PREMIER DIVISION
Colwyn Bay 2nd XI (25) 191-4 dec Newton-le-Willows (4) 170-10
Great win for second-place Colwyn Bay seconds whose total of 191-4 declared, made after they won the toss and batted, proved too stiff a target for their visitors.
Matt Russell posted 72, skipper Shaun Davies 53 and Dan Russell 35.
Newton-le-Willows were dismissed for 170, James Jones taking 4-43 for the hosts, Tom Clarke 3-41 and Matt Russell 2-23.
2ND XI FIRST DIVISION
Northop Hall 2nd XI (5) 75-10 Rainhill 2nd XI (25) 183-8 dec
Visitors Rainhill seconds set a formidable 183-8 declared after being put in, Michael Arden taking 3-18 and Sion Hellen 2-53 for the hosts.
Hall were then blown away for just 75.
2ND XI SECOND DIVISION
Caldy 2nd XI (20) 51-1 Prestatyn 2nd XI (0) 50-10
Skipper Steven Edwards made a spirited 25 but Prestatyn seconds could only make 50 all out at Caldy and ended up losing by nine wickets.
The entire match lasted just 28.1 overs.
