1ST XI SECOND DIVISION

Prestatyn (20) 64-10 Northop Hall (5) 60-10

An astonishing, low-scoring North Wales derby ended in a four-run victory for Prestatyn.

Beaten heavily at Northop Hall by 99 runs back in June, Saturday’s return at Beach Close saw the home side gain revenge – but only just.

Prestatyn won the toss and elected to bat, but things did not look great when they were bowled out for a paltry 64 off 31 overs.

Hall skipper Carwyn Johnson grabbed 5-25 and Liam Evans-Ford 5-34 for the visitors, while Sheil Sethi top-scored for the hosts with 23.

Evans-Ford clean bowled four of his five victims.

Northop Hall found batting no easier, only two of their line-up reaching double figures as they collapsed to 60 all out.

Sampath Perera bagged 5-32 off 10 and Shafiqullah Kamal claimed 4-20, a Lucas Sheridan run out accounting for the other wicket.

Perera’s league wickets tally for 2023 is now up to 57 – his second best tally in six seasons at Beach Close. He has four games left to beat his highest-ever haul of 68 achieved in 2014.

1ST XI ECB PREMIER LEAGUE

Formby (25) 277-4 dec Colwyn Bay (5) 163-10

Putting Formby into bat did bottom side Colwyn Bay no good at all.

The home side rattled up 277-4 declared off 48 overs, Ian Cockbain spanking 139 off 120 balls.

Ryan Holtby notched 2-67 for the visitors.

Bay were bowled out for 163, skipper George Johansen making a determined 74 and Adam Campion 33, Archie Davies 5-21 for the winning hosts.

2ND XI PREMIER DIVISION

2ND XI FIRST DIVISION

Northop Hall 2nd XI 118-3 (25) Wavertree 2nd XI (3) 114-10

A marvellous day for Northop Hall seconds as they picked up their very first win of the season at the 18th attempt.

Still adrift at the bottom by 53 points, Saturday’s result will nonetheless serve as a morale-booster for the Flintshire club.

Sion Hellen claimed 5-53, Matthew Edwards 3-18 and Gareth Fox 2-21 as Hall dismissed the Liverpudlians, who opted to bat, for just 114.

In reply, the hosts eased to 118-3 off 31.3, Fox 40 not out and opener Tom Hellen 32.
