NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE REPORTS – JULY 29

DIVISION TWO

Brymbo 2nd XI (13) 185-4 Bersham (2) 181-5

Opener Joss Roberts hit a match-winning 98 not out for leaders Brymbo seconds at the SSC.

Bersham set a more than decent 181-5 off 40 overs, Sujeesh Vazhadan scoring 54 not out, Suresh Lakmal Koswaththage 53 and Sameera-Sam De Silva 39.

Ryan Holloway claimed 2-15 off eight tight overs for the hosts.

Roberts then controlled the home side’s reply, finishing just two short of a ton in a total of 185-4 off 37, Craig Morse adding 26 and skipper Ross Roberts 26 not out, Nilanka De Silva 2-27 for the visitors.

Carmel (0) 90-10 St Asaph 2nd XI (15) 192-3

Fifties from Ieuan Jones (59), Andy Mearns (56 no) and captain Ben Murphy (50) enabled St Asaph seconds to compile an imposing score of 192-3 off 40 overs.

Mike Thompson then scooped 2-13, Roger Cloete 2-20 and Liam Moores 2-26 as Saints sent Carmel packing for just 90 to secure a 15-0 points success.

Llanrwst (12) 119-10 Buckley 2nd XI (3) 82-10

Iwan Edwards’ sublime bowling analysis of 4-5 did most to ensure that Llanrwst’s modest total of 119 was a winning one.

Inserted by the opposition, Rwsters skipper Aron Hughes top-scored with 41, while for Buckley, Tom Pool made a splash with 4-14, Mike Wootton bagged 3-28 and Mathew Edge 2-35.

The visitors were bowled out in response for just 82, Craig Lawton and skipper Pool both hitting 31, while Adam Thomas took 3-22 and Trefor Williams 2-12 for the home side, providing good back-up for chief destroyer Edwards.

Mochdre 2nd XI (14) 97-3 Hawarden Park 2nd XI (1) 96-10

Owen Davies snapped up 6-16 in Mochdre seconds’ convincing seven-wicket success over Hawarden seconds at Swan Road.

The visitors opted for first knock and were skittled out for just 96, Antonio Carrino 44, Finlay Jones with 3-22 for Mochdre, adding to Davies’ wonder haul.

Mochdre got home on 97-3, Owen Opie 32 not out and Finlay Jones 28.

Mold 2nd XI (0) 103-10 Bangor 2nd XI (15) 104-1

After bowling Mold seconds out cheaply at Chester Road, Bangor seconds had no difficulty in reaching the winning post.

Wales Over-60 international Gareth Edwards took 3-17, Subhan Khan 3-25 and Andy Williams 2-18 as the hosts were all back in the hutch for 103.

Bangor eased to 104-1 in 20.1 overs, Chris Barry 46 not out and Williams 30.

Pontblyddyn 2nd XI (3) 132-10 Gresford 2nd XI (12) 136-7

Owain Walker’s return of 5-26 was crucial in guiding Gresford seconds to victory at Alder Meadow.

Harry Morris also pocketed 2-13 as Pont were bowled out for 132, Dave Evans by far the leading batsman with 60 runs.

Skipper George Morris hit a vital 50 not out as Gresford reached 136-7, Ethan Roberts gathering 3-23 for the losing hosts.

DIVISION THREE

Bethesda 2nd XI (1) 41-10 Ruthin (14) 141-7

Put into bat, Ruthin were in big trouble at 58-7 before an unbroken eighth-wicket stand of 83 between Joshua Duckworth (47 no) and Ned Roberts (17 no) helped the visitors reach a far more respectable 141.

Sopan Patil poached an excellent 5-14 off eight and John Maloney collected 2-20 for Bethesda seconds.

In reply, the hosts were blasted out for just 41, Osian Roberts 5-7 off six and Jonny Clayton 3-19.

Clwb Criced Caernarfon (4) 101-5 Corwen (11) 104-9

Corwen scraped home by one wicket in a low-scorer at Coed Helen Recreation Ground.

Paul Gower led the chart on 31 not out as Caernarfon crawled to 101-5 off 40 overs, Richard Hughes 3-13 for the visitors.

Tom King was the star man for Corwen with 49 not out as the away side scrambled their way to 104-9 off 31, Monis Altaf 4-14, Ian Morgan 2-17 and Ian Leadbitter 2-37 for the hosts.

Connah’s Quay 2nd XI (13) 41-5 Llandudno 2nd XI (2) 40-10

James Thomas bagged 5-12, while Rhys Jones and Matthew Dix snapped up 2-7 apiece as Llandudno seconds were blitzed out for a paltry 40.

Quay stumbled to a winning 41-5 in reply, Jake Sumbland 3-25 and Luke Regan 2-12 for the visitors.

Denbigh 2nd XI (15) 122-1 Conwy 2nd XI (0) 121-7

Robert Gater finished 41 not out as Conwy seconds set 121-7 off their 40 overs, Darren Nixon taking 3-18 for Denbigh, who then eased to 122-1 in 28.1, Andy Thomas 61 not out, Daniel Nixon 32 no.

Mynydd Isa and Maeshafn (12) 137-6 Gwersyllt Park 2nd XI (3) 134-7

Ian Pearson struck 59 not out in Gwersyllt Park’s effort of 134-7, which was not enough to seal a victory for the visitors.

Umang Desai pocketed 3-10 off eight and Deepak Loguchetty 3-23 for hosts Mynydd Isa and Maeshafn, who went on to rack up a winning 137-6, Yash Soni 58 not out, Michael Griffiths an astonishing 3-3 off eight and Graeme Bell 2-44 for the losing side.

DIVISION FOUR

Halkyn 2nd XI (15) 53-0 Abergele 2nd XI (0) 51-10

Sam Hamilton returned a magical 3-2 off five overs and Sion Barnes snared 3-12 as Halkyn seconds put Abergele seconds in and dismissed them for a mere 51.

Halkyn then coasted to 53-0 from 9.5, Jack Hawkins 25 not out and Aaron Thomas 23 no.
