Double-winners Llandudno Originals

The Originals put out the flames by double dousing the Fire on Sunday.

Llandudno Originals and Llandudno Fire played out a cracking head-to-head at The Oval as the North Wales Women’s Cricket League West club colleagues met twice in the same afternoon.

NORTH WALES WOMEN’S LEAGUE WEST

SUNDAY, JULY 16

Llandudno Fire (2 pts) 68-6 (16 overs) – Net score 228
Llandudno Originals (19 pts) 136-1 (16) – Net score 331

Three batters stood out as the Originals rattled up 136-1 off their 16 overs.

Hannah Jones made 27, Clare Freeman 17 and Laura Lambe 21 (once out – net score 16).

In reply, Fire were limited to 68-6, skipper Eleanor Hails 9, Hannah Jones 2-5 and Charlotte Mckinley 2-8 for the Originals, who won by 103 runs.

Fire won the toss and chose to bat, chalking up 91-3, Erin Marlor top-scoring with 13.

Originals hit back with 127-2 to clinch a 41-run win.

Laura Lambe struck 24, Clare Freeman 14 and Hannah Jones 11.

Conwy Celts (4 pts) 59-6 (16 overs) – Net score 229
Colwyn Bay (16 pts) 77-5 (16) – Net score 252

Chloe Jones and Hannah Kennedy both scored 17, while Jane Smith hit 14 (twice out – net 4) as the Bay set 77-5 off their 16 overs after being asked to bat.

Emma Leighton-Jones took 2-12 and Llinos Hill 2-15 for the Celts, who were then restricted to 59-6 in response, skipper Hill 14, Sue Wolfendale 2-9 and Sammy Sherington 2-12 for the Bay.

Colwyn won by 23 runs.

Bay completed a double over Celts, who were invited to bat and could only muster 49-2 off their 16 overs.

Hannah Kennedy notched 29, Sammy Sherington 20, Robyn Mclaren 11 and Chloe Jones 12 (once out – net score 7) as Colwyn chalked up 110-4 in reply, sealing a 51-run victory.

Sioned Hill picked up 2-7 for Celts.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 12

Carmel and District (5) 105-7 (16) – Net score 270
Buckley (16) 89-3 (16) – Net score 274

Buckley won a thriller at Pen-y-Gelli by just four runs last Wednesday.

Put into bat, Bucks posted 89-3 off their 16 overs for a net total of 274, skipper Debbie McManus and Lisa Roberts both scoring 15, Alison Royle 14.

Carmel scored 105 in response, but losing seven wickets cost them the game.

Haf Morgan Read excelled once more with 33, Tracey Noakes with 17, Ann Broughton taking 2-11 for Buckley.

Halkyn (17) 100-5 (16) – Net score 275
Gwersyllt Park (5) 75-7 (16) – Net score 240

Gwersyllt Park Ladies

Halkyn chose to field and kept Gwersyllt Park down to 75-7, Zoe Reynolds making 13, Bethan Jones 12 (once put – net 7) and Sarah Johnson 14 (out twice – net 4).

Katie Morris took a really impressive 4-13 for Halkyn, Emily Hart with 2-12.

Nicky Napper made 17 and Heather Astley 21 (once out – net 16) as the Pant Newydd hosts replied with 100-5 to seal a 35-run victory.
