New look to North Wales Women’s Cricket League this season

Such has been the rise in interest for the North Wales Women’s Cricket League, the competition has become regionalised this season.
The league has been split into North Wales Women’s Cricket League East and NWWCL West for 2023.
East comprises: Buckley 1st XI, Carmel & District XI, Gwersyllt Park 1st XI, Halkyn 1st XI, Northop 1st XI, Northop Hall 1st XI.
And West: Bethesda 1st XI, Conwy Celts, Colwyn Bay 1st XI, Llandudno Originals, Menai Bridge 1st XI, Llandudno Fire, Dolgellau.
This is the third year of the league, but the first that there will be two divisions, totalling 13 teams in all.
Bethesda were the 2021 champions and they shared top spot last year with Colwyn Bay.
In 2022, Colwyn Bay won the first ever ‘100 Ball Cup’ competition – as the sole representatives from North Wales – at Glamorgan’s Sophia Gardens.
The 2023 season is already underway with results as follows:
(Note: Teams are given 200 runs start and have five points deducted for every wicket lost. Maximum of 16 overs per team)

Colwyn Bay 1st XI (14 pts) 74-1 (16) – net score 269
Llandudno Originals (3 pts) 79-5 (16) – net score 254
Colwyn Bay won by 15 runs
Bay won the toss and fielded, limiting Llandudno to 79-5 off 16 overs, Brittany Loughborough 12 and Charlotte McKinley 11.
In response, Bay made 74-1, giving them a net score of 269 and a 15-run victory, Jane Smith making 10.
Conwy Celts (17 pts) 135-1 (16) net score 330
Bethesda (4 pts) 118-5 (16) net score 293
Celts won by 37 runs
Captain Llinos Hill hit a commanding 39 (34 net) as Conwy posted a mighty 135-1 off their 16 overs.
Rachel Williams added 11 and Clem Reed 10.
Pesda could only muster 118-5 in reply, Bethan Briggs 30, Erin Harrington 13 and Ellie Creek 12, Emma Leighton-Jones and Komal Hirani both 2-18 for Celts, who won by 37 runs.

Bethesda won by 76 runs
Bethan Briggs was in top form again for Bethesda, hitting 35 (net 30) as her team struck 139-4 off their 16 overs for a net score of 319.
Ellie Creek added 18 and Mannon Briggs 11.
Newcomers Bridge were restricted to 78-4, Millie Forte 3-16 and Ellie Creek 2-4 for Pesda.
