Llysfaen hero makes welcome return to North Wales Coast East Division One strugglers

One of Llysfaen’s most famous footballing sons has returned to the club where he made his name as a local football hero.

Sean Sheridan rejoined the North Wales Coast East Division One side this evening following a spell with Llandudno Amateurs.

Llysfaen now hope Sheridan’s goalscoring skills can help them get off the bottom of Division One, the Bananabeu outfit having won just one out of 14 matches this term.

Commenting on his return, Sheridan said: “Buzzing to be back playing at my hometown club with my mates and being able to have my family come watch me.

Manager Emlyn Robert Jones added: “Not going to lie, I’m over the moon Shez has come home. I don’t think he truly realises how highly regarded he is, not just amongst the lads here, the young lads here too, the people that come down to watch us play, everyone.

“I know a happy Shez is a Shez that scores goals and with the signings we’ve made he will feel at home with us. He’s lifted the group with his energy in the last 24 hours and although he may be a bit rusty to begin with, we know what he offers us.

“Huge shout out to Llandudno Amateurs for sorting the transfer out so quickly, it’s hugely appreciated.”

The 27-year-old Sheridan had played for Colwyn Bay Reserves/firsts, Old Colwyn, Llysfaen, Mochdre and Pen-y-Bryn before switching to Llysfaen.

He treasured his time with the Bay, where he won the first-ever Welsh Alliance Reserves League Cup Final in 2014-15, beating Denbigh Town 2-1 at Rhyl.

In a breakthrough 2019-20 season for Llysfaen, Sean scored 31 goals in 19 games, including 21 in the league in 11 matches. He grabbed two hat-tricks and bagged four goals in a game twice.

Sean helped the Banana Field outfit finish runners-up in their division, having not lost a single game and only missing out on the title by the narrowest of margins on points-per-game to NFA.Llysfaen lost by 0.03 of a point having played a game less. Their goal difference was +11 better than the first-placed team.

Sean also filled a vital dual role at the club as coach of the Llysfaen Lionesses ladies recreational football side.

The striker joined Llanfairfechan Town for the 2020-21 season, but the campaign never got started due to Covid.

Last season Sheridan was back at Llysfaen, netting seven goals in 10 games, before he signed for Llandudno Amateurs at the start of 2022-23.

He scored twice on his debut against Henllan, but had not featured for the Amateurs since last October.

Now he’s back with Llysfaen and the club is buzzing.
