1ST XI FIRST DIVISION

Colwyn Bay (20) 97-1 Highfield (0) 96-10

Colwyn Bay will enter their final game of the season at Ainsdale on Saturday still in with an outside chance of clinching promotion to the Premier.

The North Wales side are 14 points behind second-place Rainford and 16 in arrears of leaders Lytham, but a victory at Liverpool Road could send George Johansen’s men up, depending on how the top two fare.

Lytham are home to 10th place Caldy, while Rainford entertain Sefton Park in eighth, so it must be said the leading pair look favourites to remain there.

Bay made light work of latest opponents Highfield on Saturday, storming to a nine-wicket win at Penrhyn Avenue.

Put into bat, the visitors were rolled over for 96, Jack Parry picking up 4-17 and Paul Jenkins 3-17 for the hosts.

In reply, Bay eased to 97-1, Zack Gidlow finishing 53 not out, while Parry was the only batsman dismissed for 25. Points: 20-0 Bay.

Northop Hall (5) 176-10 Spring View (25) 268-4 declared

Northop Hall are relegated from Division One following Saturday’s home loss to Spring View.

The visitors elected to bat and amassed 268-4 declared, Suleman Khan 100 not out and Buddika Karawgodalage 81.

Will Edwards scooped 2-38 and Joshua Leach 2-66 for the hosts, who were then dismissed for 176.

Skipper Will Higginson did best with 70, while Carwyn Johnson posted 35, Jonny Broad 4-26 for the away side.

1ST XI SECOND DIVISION

Prestatyn (7) 132-5 Hightown St Mary’s (6) 216-10

A narrow winning draw for Prestatyn, who put the visitors into bat and bowled them out for 216.

Sanjika Ridma top-scored with 82 for HSM, while for the hosts, Adam Tidswell notched 3-49, Sheil Sethi 2-45 and Benjamin Hughes 2-52.

Prestatyn’s response ended on 132-5, the ever-reliable Gareth Leonard hitting 50 off as many balls, including six fours and two sixes, Sethi made 42, Ridma pocketing 3-29 for the away side.

2ND XI PREMIER DIVISION

Northern 2nd XI (6) 155-9 dec Colwyn Bay 2nd XI (24) 159-9

A fourth straight win made sure Colwyn Bay seconds still have a chance of winning the Premier Division title on the final Saturday of the season.

Second-place Bay, who are 17 points behind table-toppers Formby seconds, host Wallasey seconds on the last weekend of the campaign needing a big victory, while hoping the leaders lose.

Whatever happens, the Bay are assured of runners-up at least.

Northern seconds decided to bat in Saturday’s contest at Moor Park and the visitors limited them to 155-9 declared, Tom Clarke an outstanding 4-25 off 14 overs, Sam Bright 2-8 and James Jones 2-20.

Bay were in bother on 91-6 in response, but the tail wagged and they made it to 159-9 off just 28.5 overs to seal a 24-6 points success.

Ed Williams-Gray starred with 58 not out, number eight bat Clarke adding 26. Williams-Gray and Clarke put on a vital 45 for the seventh wicket.

Kian Thompson claimed 5-87 for Northern, but the visitors took the spoils.

2ND XI FIRST DIVISION

Spring View (20) 79-3 Northop Hall (3) 76-10

Hall were soundly beaten at Spring View but are safe from relegation.

2ND XI SECOND DIVISION

Hightown St Mary’s 2nds (5) 60-10 Prestatyn 2nds (23) 147-10

Jaden Ablett (46) and Ashley Jones (31) did most to ensure Prestatyn set a decent score of 147 all out after being put into bat.

Ablett completed a great match with 4-4 off eight overs as HSM were sent packing for just 60, Issac Sheridan 2-16 and Ashley Jones 2-28.
