Wales NC North make just one change from the 12 that travelled to Cumbria last week when they take on Staffordshire at St Asaph today (Wednesday).

Llay Welfare batsman Joe Howell comes into the home squad, replacing Llandudno opener Sam Rimmington.

The North Wales representative side made their debut in Netherfield last week and lost by 152 runs to Cumbria, 265-6 playing 113-5.

Wales NC North were only able to bat for 34 overs, however, before rain abandoned play, the hosts having had the full quota of 50.

Bangor CC bowler Owen Reilly impressed with 3-45 and is expected to retain his place in the 11.

Several of the northern contingent were in fine form in the North Wales League Premier Division at the weekend, James Claybrook of Brymbo hitting a third century of the season.

Jack Gower struck 95 for Menai Bridge, Duncan Midgley made 50 for St Asaph, while in the bowling, Chris Ellwood scooped 6-28 for red-hot Gresford and Bangor’s Reilly snapped up 3-22 in a win over Mochdre.

Rimmington, who misses out today, proved he is more than capable of stepping back in with a century for Llandudno against Llay.
