WOMEN’S FOOTBALL PREVIEWS – SUNDAY, MAY 1

NORTH WALES WOMEN’S FOOTBALL LEAGUE (2 pm)

Amlwch Town v CPDM Bangor 1876

Fourth entertains third in what should be a good rematch at Lôn Bach.

Bangor 1876 beat Amlwch 1-0 at Plas Ffrancon in March, so the Anglesey side will be out for revenge.

Aron Griffith’s 1876 side are seeking a fourth straight away win. Three points will guarantee them a top-three finish.

Commenting in the run up to the game, manager Griffith said: “It’s going to be a big game for us on Sunday. Amlwch are a very good, competitive team with strong players.

Last time around it was a brilliant match, a really tight game between us but we managed to edge it 1-0 so we’re hoping for the same again down at Lôn Bach.

“The squad have really worked hard in training this week and we’ve worked through our game plan for Sunday. I’m hoping we can snatch the victory, but we know it’s going to be a tough game with both teams going for it.

“Amlwch are a quality team with experienced players so we’ve got to be ready for the challenge and embrace it. We’re looking forward to it now and it should be an all-out match.”

NFA v Llanystumdwy

Second-place NFA need to win if they are to maintain their title challenge.

Currently 11 points behind leaders CPD Y Rhyl 1879. but with three games in hand, Andy Lloyd’s side have recorded five victories in a row at home.

They also won 5-2 at Llanystumdwy last October and with free-scoring threesome Amy Webster (22 goals), Sade Benjamin (22) and Emily Jones (19) in the ranks, NFA are big favourites to get the win.

Trearddur Bay v Northop Hall

Much-improved Trearddur have won three of their last four home fixtures.

Northop Hall, who beat the Anglesey side 6-0 at Rowley’s Drive last October, have had a mixed season results-wise, but look good for a top-five finish.
