Pontblyddyn will be guaranteed the Division One title if they pick up 14 points at home to Ruthin tomorrow (Bank Holiday Monday).
The Alder Meadow club hold a 32-point lead at the summit with three to play after Saturday’s six-wicket triumph at Gwersyllt Park.
Pont require just four more points to ensure they finish in the top two promotion spots.

REPORTS – SATURDAY, AUGUST 28

GWERSYLLT PARK (2) 171-10 PONTBLYDDYN (13) 172-4

Pont marched one step closer to the Division One title with a six-wicket success at Gwersyllt.
The home side won the toss and opted to bat, Ralfie Challinor (52), Daniel Jones (38) and Ryan Collier (31) helping them set a total of 171 all out.
Daz Wilcock claimed 3-32, Rhys Jones 3-38 and Chris Moss 2-29 for the visitors.
Pont needed just 33.3 overs to reach a winning 172-4, Alistair Roberts top-scoring with 49, Moss 48 not out and Michael Littler 37, Neil Pearson 2-26 from 10 for Park.

ABERGELE (13) 189-10 HALKYN (2) 114-10

Abergele’s much-improved batting displays this season served them well again as they saw off Halkyn by 75 runs at Pentre Mawr.
Ben Garnett hit 53, Luke Sellers 32 and David Holmes 31 as the hosts posted 189 all out, Muhammad Bajwa snaring 3-18 and Ben Roberts 3-27 for the visitors.
Edward Rooney then scooped 4-24, Rana Das 3-42 and David Moulson 2-25 as Halkyn were sent packing for 114.

BETHESDA (3) 136-9 HAWARDEN PARK (12) 175-9

Hawarden’s score of 175 proved too many for hosts Bethesda.
The away batting effort was made up of a handful of useful scores, but it was extras which finished up the highest on 30.
Owen Skillander (27) and Jamie Brailsford (24) put on 58 for the first wicket.
Sopan Patil took 3-34 and Dylan Hughes 2-9 off six for the hosts.
Pesda were limited to 136-9 in reply, despite contributing the match’s two highest individual scores from Jonathan Williams (51) and Richie Parry (41).
Two cracking bowling spells for the visitors – Michael Wootton 3-21 off 10 and James Martin 2-25 from 10.

CONNAH’S QUAY (13) RUTHIN (-15)

DOLGELLAU (1) 120-10 MOLD (14) 121-3

Gareth Davies took 5-33 for Mold


Gareth Davies claimed a crucial 5-33 to set up Mold for a victory charge at The Marian.
Dolgellau decided to bat but were rolled over for just 120, Greg Smithies the best contributor with 40.
Davies’ five-for was well supported by the likes of Daniel Drew (2-26), while the economical John Crane (1-14 off 10) and Richard Crane (1-18 from 10) also played their parts.
George Deniz hit 42 and John Crane 27 not out as Mold reached 121-3 in 41.2 overs to secure the points and remain second in the table.

LLANRWST (13) 195-7 BANGOR 2ND XI (2) 133-10

Wicket-keeper Iwan Edwards’ 51 helped the Roosters set a winning score at Gwydir Park.
The home side posted a more than useful 195-7 off 45 overs, skipper Aron Hughes adding 42 in a third-wicket stand of 74 with opener Edwards.
Aidan Kelly took 3-18 off seven overs for the visitors, who were then bowled out for 133.
Andrew Savage scored 50 and Faisal Khan 36 for the citizens, Alwyn Williams pocketing 4-34, Trefor Williams 3-9 off five and Lee Thomas 2-18 from 10 for the Conwy Valley hosts.
