Nick Flack became the sixth Chirk player to make a century this season as his team romped to a huge victory at Beacon.
Flack’s 114 not out was key in the visitors setting a formidable total of 266-7 after being invited to bat.
Chirk CC supporters, players and officials are now wondering when was the last time six batters from the club all posted tons in the same campaign. Or, has it ever happened?
On Twitter, club stalwart Tony Phillips said: “Six players in the club have scored 100+ this season. Can’t remember this happening before.”
This is the proud roll of honour listing seven Chirk centuries compiled by six different players from the 2021 season. Skipper Andrew Swarbrick has reached three figures twice and scored 99.
Gareth Partridge – 156 not out – Worfield 2nd XI v Chirk 1st XI (June 19, 2021)
Andrew Swarbrick – 142 not out – Worfield 2nd XI v Chirk 1st XI (June 19, 2021)
Liam Walker – 133 – Quayside 1st XI v Chirk 2nd XI (June 5, 2021)
Nick Flack – 114 not out – Chirk 1st XI v Beacon 1st XI (July 24, 2021)
Ian Skinner – 103 not out – Condover 2nd XI v Chirk 2nd XI (July 17, 2021)
Andrew Swarbrick – 103 – Chirk 1st XI v Pontesbury 1st XI (July 17, 2021)
James Carter – 100 not out – Pontesbury 1st XI v Chirk 1st XI (May 1, 2021)
Chirk were 77-3 on Saturday before Andrew Swarbrick and Flack put on 63 for the fourth wicket.
Swarbrick went for 37, but not before he passed 500 league runs for the season.
James Carter (25) then added 83 with Flack for the sixth wicket.
Flack’s unbeaten 114 came off 101 balls and included 12 fours and four sixes.
So 266-7 off their 45 overs represented another fine afternoon’s batting from the North Walians.
Beacon’s reply lasted just 26 overs, but at least they went down fighting, going along at five-an-over before being bowled out for 136.
Flack completed a great day with 4-33, Billy Swarbrick grabbing 3-37 and Connor Bailey 2-43.
Chirk lie fourth in the table with a game in hand on the teams above and still in with a decent chance of runners-up.
In a match that lasted just a little beyond 50 overs Chirk seconds made light work of visitors Cae Glas 2nd XI.
Hailing from Oswestry, the away side were put in and rolled over for just 97, Stephen Conner notching 5-35 off 11 overs, while Nigel Davies bagged 2-9 from eight.
Chirk then coasted to 98-1 in just 15.4 overs, in-form Ian Skinner 47 not out and Gary Bailey 32 no.
