Holywell FC Ladies & Girls 1 (Stopford)
NFA 10 (Lloyd 2, Webster 2, Evans, Benjamin 2, Windsor, Pursell, 1 OG)
New signing Sade Benjamin scored twice as NFA hit form in front of goal in Thursday’s friendly at Holywell.
Striker Benjamin, a former Rhyl player who has transferred to NFA at her own request, showed early signs she will be a great asset for her new team.
NFA took a squad of 15 to Flintshire, two of them under-16’s from last year.
It was agreed to play 3 x 30 minute periods due to the evening heat.
NFA started the game well and were 2-0 up inside 10 minutes. As the game went on the visitors created more and more chances. They then scored another two before the end of the first period.
Holywell carved some openings too, but they came to nothing.
Another three away goals arrived in the second period and the quality of football from Andy Lloyd’s side was getting better all the time.
At the start of the third period Holywell earned a corner and scored with a quality header from recent addition Zoe Stopford.
NFA regrouped and played some lovely football, producing more opportunities that resulted in another three goals.
Even though the score was a little one-sided Holywell did not give up right until the final whistle.
Scorers for Rhyl were: two each for Rachel Lloyd, Amy Webster and Sade Benjamin, with one apiece for Stella Windsor, the returning Ffion Evans and Megan Pursell, plus there was an own goal.
NFA were due to host Bethel this Sunday, but the game has been cancelled.
