North East Wales League: Rhostyllen back to top, Druids win ‘ancients’ battle, Bellevue off mark, 7 for Mostyn

NORTH EAST WALES FOOTBALL LEAGUE REPORTS – OCTOBER 24
DIVISION 1
Rhostyllen 2 Hawarden Rangers 1

After two recent defeats and three league games without a win Rhostyllen returned to form and regained top spot in Division One.
All the goals arrived in the opening 10 minutes at The Rec.
Visitors Hawarden struck first after just four minutes via a firm finish from Paul Lindfield, but Rhostyllen were level on six when Cameron Thomas received the ball on the left and fired a great curling effort from outside the box straight into the top corner.
In the ninth minute, the hosts took the lead when Lewis Bickerton-Cole scored with a great dipping effort from 22 yards.
Rhostyllen should have put the game out of sight in the second half but failed to take their chances, the closest call a Steven Jones chip which came back off the post.
Winning assistant-manager Tom Morgan said: “Great to get back to winning ways today and pick up a massive three points at home against Hawarden.
“The weather conditions were horrendous, but credit to the lads, we dug deep, worked hard for each other and showed the determination needed to get the result.
“Defensively, I thought we were excellent throughout, staying organised and making it difficult for the opposition. Going forward, we were clinical when our chances came, which ultimately made the difference.
“A proper team performance in difficult conditions, and one we can take plenty of positives from.
“Now it’s about building on this result, putting another good week’s work in at training and preparing for Acton next weekend.”
DIVISION 2

Both these historic clubs won the Welsh Cup in the 1880s – their latest meeting took place on October 24, 2026.
Ten-man Chirk lost to neighbours Druids after a grand old battle in stormy conditions at Holyhead Road.

Druids had keeper Jadyn Mundle to thank for keeping them level with a string of fine saves with Chirk trying to get back the lead.
Chirk were dealt a big blow just before the interval when midfielder Sammy Nash saw red after a rash tackle.
The hosts reshuffled with Ed Rogers pushing into midfield. This put Chirk back in command and it wasn’t long before they were deservedly back in front when Taylor set up Luke Dwyer to slot past Mundle.
Former Buckley striker Ruben Lima Teixeira pulled Druids level against the run of play on 73 minutes and this gave the away side the impetus although Chirk still had chances to take back the lead before Ancients captain Stephen Berry hit a 25 yard screamer on 88 minutes to give all 3 points to Druids.
