North Wales League Premier Division leaders St Asaph beat Liverpool Competition outfit Colwyn Bay off the final ball to reach the last 16 of the Welsh Cup.

Needing 10 off the final over, brothers William Ryan and Danny Ryan saw the hosts over the finish line in what must rank as one of their finest wins in years.

Bay were put into bat and set 183-9 off their 40 overs.

Adam Campion produced the outstanding innings, making 93 off 104 balls and hitting eight fours and four sixes.

Jack Parry (22) and Will Sissons (21) also came up with useful knocks for the visitors.

For Saints, Danny Ryan took 3-52, Jason Foulkes an excellent 2-13 and Mathew Ryan 2-35.

In reply, Mathew Ryan (22) and Duncan Midgley (21) put on 44 for the first wicket.

Daniel Williams (40), Ben Mason (28) and Foulkes (24) all batted well to boost Saints to 146-5.

There was still work to do, and skipper William Ryan (26 no) and Danny Ryan (10 no) did the necessary to see Asaph to victory.

Campion took 2-26 and Sion Morris 2-27 for Bay in a thrilling encounter which could have gone either way.

Saints now join Northop Hall, Menai Bridge and Llay Welfare from North Wales in the final 16.
