Battling Bethel came back from two goals down at half time to earn a commendable draw at Nomads today.

Unfortunately, the visitors’ day was blighted by a knee injury to their highly-rated goalkeeper Sioned Hughes-Williams.

The club is hopeful she will make a speedy recovery.

Nomads were strong in the first half, during which Sioned got injured, goals from Oceia Thomas and a trialist putting them in command.

But the visitors refused to fold, goals from regular dynamic duo, substitutes Erin Maloney and Ffion Williams earning them the draw.

Bethel: Sioned Hughes-Williams, Mali Henshaw, Jenna Allsup, Beca Dafydd, Shannon Jade Jones, Llio Emyr, Ellie Jones, Gwenno Gibbard Bolton, Katie Midwinter, Mari Gibbard, Fflur Williams. Subs: Lois Evans, Jody Cain, Erin Maloney, Katie Houghton, Ffion Williams.

History-makers – Llanystumdwy Ladies’ first three goal scorers

Llanystumdwy Women celebrated their first win in a hard-fought friendly today.

Grace Mpuku scored the team’s first ever goal – a rebound off the keeper following a ferocious free kick from Malen Williams.

Llinos Jones, making her first appearance for the team, made it 2-0 with a tap in after a bit of a scramble inside the six-yard box, then the icing on the cake was a superb corner from Malen Williams going over everyone, hitting the back post and into the goal.

Llangefni also performed well, Jema Owen and Jenn Cox their scorers. Both goal scorers were voted Players of the Match.
