Women’s Welsh Cup draw: Denbigh home to Nomads, Rhyl to host Bethel

Denbigh Town can look forward to a good battle with Connah’s Quay Nomads in the next round of the Welsh Cup

Denbigh Town can expect a good test when they host exciting newcomers Connah’s Quay Nomads in the last 16 of the FAW Women’s Welsh Cup next month.

Town, from North Wales Division One, were resounding 8-2 winners in Sunday’s round one clash with Northop Hall, striker Rosie Hughes scoring no less than six goals.

Nomads have made an impressive start to life in North Wales Division Two and advanced to the next stage of the national knockout by beating Pwllheli 3-1.

Sara Hilton has assembled a strong squad at Deeside Stadium and while there is a division’s difference between the sides, the tussle at Denbigh could end up the tie of the round.

Llanfair United, who eliminated Amlwch Town 3-1 at the weekend, face a trip to either Corwen or Llandudno in the final 16. Welsh Premier Tudno will be favourites to get past NWWFL outfit Corwen when their clash, postponed on Sunday, is rearranged.

The third northern tie will see Rhyl host Bethel in an all-NWWFL Division One encounter.

This could be a cracker, with the promoted Lilywhites having started the campaign very strongly as have Bethel, who were joint Division One champions last season.

All ties are expected to be played on Sunday, November 17.

Round two draw – northern section
