Trearddur Bay Bulls have become the third Anglesey football club to resign before the 2021-22 season.

But the islanders insist they will be back for the 2022-23 campaign.

Formed in 2019-20 as an amalgamation of the former Trearddur Bay United and Bryngwran Bulls, TBB were set to compete in the new tier 4 North Wales Coast West Premier Division this term.

The experienced Mike Davies took over as manager from Derek Thomas in May and all looked promising, with a strong squad developing and early performances in friendlies encouraging.

However, in recent weeks key players had joined other clubs and Bulls were forced to cancel a couple of friendlies.

Today came the announcement that the club was taking a season out.

Club chairman Chris Davies said: “It’s with a heavy heart that we have decided to take a season out. The club have done all they can to pull things together post-Covid but have finally made the decision to take time out to put together a strategy that will enable us to return next season.

“During this season things will still be in motion behind the scenes which we feel will put us in a better position next summer.

“We would like to thank Mike Davies and his coaches for the hard work they put in to try pull it together. We would also like to thank Derek Thomas who Mike took over from.

“We look forward to returning to the game we all love and work hard for.”

Island clubs Bro Goronwy and Llandegfan have already resigned from their respective leagues for the 2021-22 season.

Both hope to return in the future, with Bro stating they are planning just a year out to rebuild.

CPD Y Fali also announced recently they were in danger of folding due to a lack of people to run the club. However, their situation is understood to have improved.
