Women’s football friendlies – Bethel battle back for draw, Hall and Llanystumdwy win

Battling Bethel came back from two goals down at half time to earn a commendable draw at Nomads today.

Unfortunately, the visitors’ day was blighted by a knee injury to their highly-rated goalkeeper Sioned Hughes-Williams.

The club is hopeful she will make a speedy recovery.

Nomads were strong in the first half, during which Sioned got injured, goals from Oceia Thomas and a trialist putting them in command.

But the visitors refused to fold, goals from regular dynamic duo, substitutes Erin Maloney and Ffion Williams earning them the draw.

Great to see Holywell Girls back

Young prospect Sienna Strapp grabbed a hat-trick for Northop Hall in an entertaining friendly against their local rivals at Rowley Drive, Shotton.

Brygida Gorecka added a double and there were singles for Abi Bradley, Milly Sigsworth and Abbie Holland.

Spirited Holywell’s reply came from a Rachel Naomi cross which was headed into the net by a home player.

History-makers – Llanystumdwy Ladies’ first three goal scorers

Llanystumdwy Women celebrated their first win in a hard-fought friendly today.

Grace Mpuku scored the team’s first ever goal – a rebound off the keeper following a ferocious free kick from Malen Williams.

Llinos Jones, making her first appearance for the team, made it 2-0 with a tap in after a bit of a scramble inside the six-yard box, then the icing on the cake was a superb corner from Malen Williams going over everyone, hitting the back post and into the goal.

Llangefni also performed well, Jema Owen and Jenn Cox their scorers. Both goal scorers were voted Players of the Match.
