Amlwch Town Ladies face a battle to keep going

From being one of the most feared and formidable women’s football teams in North Wales, Amlwch Town now face a sudden battle to stay in existence.

Following the recent departure of their management team and a number of players, Amlwch Town FC Ladies are facing a tough battle to remain in the North Wales League.

Attempts to recruit a new head coach and enough players have so far been unsuccessful.

Previous managers Mo Eynon and Charlotte Webb stepped down shortly after the team recently failed in its bid to enter the new elite Tier 2 North League.

Key players have also recently left the club.

Amlwch Town FC interim chairman Adrian Jones explained: “Despite great success on the field in recent seasons, our ladies team is now facing a tough battle to remain in the league.

“We’ve tried recruiting a new head coach with the kind support of the FAW; and advertised ourselves – but so far no one has shown an interest.”

Amlwch Ladies won their first-ever trophy in 2018-19, claiming the Supplementary Cup in a 2-1 win against Wrexham, and also went on to win the North Wales League Division Two title the following season.

Adrian added: “The ladies train at our Lôn Bach pitch every Wednesday evening at 6.30pm. Players over 16 years old are welcome to join us.”

“It would be such a shame if we had to withdraw from the league; but unless we can recruit a coach and players – there isn’t much we can do. So this is really an appeal to anyone out there who wants to play to join this great club.”

For more information about the head coach role or if you’d like to attend training, please contact Adrian Jones on 07747 603434.
