Girls football team NFA Under-16’s need new players after becoming victims of their own success

Emily Loudon has been offered terms by Liverpool FC RTC

With five of their finest players going on to bigger things – and two more moving clubs – one local girls football team is now seeking new talent for their under-16 and U-19 sides.

Rhyl-based NFA discovered this week that top prospect Emily Loudon has been offered a playing contract at Liverpool FC RTC (Regional Talent Club), as well as gaining a place in the new FAW academy following her trials.

Meanwhile, Kelci Morris, Megan Galeandro and Cadi Doran have been selected for the new FAW girls academy. Only 70 spaces were up for grabs across Wales, so this is a great achievement by NFA and the girls.

Skye Parry is leaving NFA to join the Wales Elite Youth football academy. Skye will play and study down in South Wales in the new academic year.

NFA club director Rebekah Hansen said: “With this news means we have lost a number of girls through no fault of our own.

“They’ve gone to make the next step, but we need to replace them so we’re looking for girls at U16 level, school years 10 & 11 in September. All abilities welcome.

“We’ve also set up a new U19s team and are actively recruiting players 16+.”

Training for the U16s is Thursdays 5.30pm at Rhyl Leisure Centre and U19s Tuesdays 6:30pm at the same venue.

Kerry and B’Elanna move on

Kerry Morris

Two other leading young talents have left NFA.

Kerry Morris and B’Elanna Ali have both been key players in the successes of Rhyl side NFA over the past two seasons.

B’Elanna, 15, has played for NFA U14 and U16’s, Wrexham RCF/AFC U16, Flintshire Girls U15, North Wales Elite Regional Squad U16 and was chosen to attend the Wales Women’s Under-17 training camp last year.

Kerry was part of the regional Wales set up from 12 to 15, but a serious leg break meant she could not progress further due to the timing of the injury.

She has been a regular goalscorer for NFA in recent times, been involved with the Chester Personal Development Centre, as well as Wrexham Centre of Excellence, and also turns out for Denbighshire county and Ysgol Glan Clwyd as part of the Welsh Schools FA.

Both girls are assessing their options in the English system.
