Luke Bansal saved two penalties for an Amlwch side forced to play for an hour with 10 men.
Friday night’s friendly saw Town show great heart and commitment, producing their best display of pre-season so far against a rejuvenated and strong Llanerchymedd side.
Amlwch were 1-0 up thanks to Ryan Rowlands and looking good.
Then came the turning point, losing a man to two yellow cards around the half hour mark.
Llan made their advantage pay early in the second half with a fine header from Dan Thomas.
But it was Amlwch keeper Bansal who stole the show as he saved not one but two Llan penalties either side of half time.
His heroics summed up 10-man Amlwch’s battling display, which still saw them cause the visitors plenty of problems on the break.
Town manager Chris Byast was delighted with the performance – especially with how his lads battled to shut out Llan in the second half.
Troy Yates (2), Darren Hughes, Harry Benjamin, James Paddock and Ben Hughes shared the goals in an impressive performance from Phoenix.
A hard-fought pre-season game with both teams lacking the creativity or quality to score.
A first half header from Jordan Carrington was enough to secure tier 2 Cymru North Colwyn Bay a narrow win in their opening pre-season friendly at Bangor 1876 of tier 4.
The game at Treborth was played in front of a crowd of around 100, with the game designated as an FAW Test Event for the safe return of supporters.
Gethin Thomas went closest to an equaliser in the second half when he hit the post.
The 1876 trialist keeper produced two great saves to deny the Seagulls a second.
Tomos Hughes netted twice in a home triumph for Pesda, Anthony Williams replying for Llangoed.
Goals from Danny Andrews and Ollie Buckley sealed a win for the Wellmen at Belle Vue.

Meliden put on a fine show for the returning fans to The Mine in a 4-2 display, reports Ron Squire.
The home side looked lively and played some quality football in the first half.
It paid off before the 20-minute mark with a brilliant looping goal from Dan Beattie to put the Miners 1-0 up.
In a ounce of confusion a few minutes later Meliden scored their second courtesy of Sam Haddon.
The game seemed to be done and dusted with Meliden getting a penalty five minutes before half time which James Cairns put it away with a calm finish.
Abergele got a goal back from a Liam Roberts free kick to make it 3-1 at the interval.
Gele gave their opponents an early scare by scoring in the first minute of the second half through Dom Holland.
Chances and momentum swung to and fro between the sides until in the 90th minute a Meliden corner was delivered into the box and in the kerfuffle Ashley Lally provided a composed finish..
Meliden manager Gareth Jones said: “In the first half we played some of our best football, could’ve gone in at least 6 goals up. Second half we fell asleep, but came back alive later on.”
After going a goal down, Llansannan hit back to win with a Gruffudd Roberts hat-trick and a fourth net-finder.
After a flying start, All Stars went a goal down when a long throw into the box ended in a Ray Lee finish.
The hosts fought back hard, but came up against strong defending for the rest of the half.
Both sides had chances after the break before All Stars equalised when Nick Sanders’ huge header bounced and lobbed the keeper making the score 1-1.
Now with the momentum, All Stars grabbed a late leveller when Harrison Bellis’ shot was well saved and Aaron Dodwell calmly slotted the rebound into the corner.
Rhos rallied and Adam Noble notched a last-minute equaliser.
Excellent performance and result for Greenfield with a 3-2 win against Mold.
The Holywell area side has only the bare 11 available and three players making their debuts including a 16 year old.
Goals came from Dean Hyland, Sion McHugh and Danny Calvert with the winner.
A scrappy win for Sychdyn.
Iwan Nevitt with a superb half volley set the visitors on their way followed by a brace from Branny Jones, who was also MOTM.
