Happy birthday to Amlwch Town’s sensational striker Lexi Crawley – 28 today.
Born on March 8, 1993, we wrote a tribute article to Lexi’s football achievements only six months ago, so Grassroots North Wales thought today we would recall 10 great moments in her career instead to mark her special day.
Lexi played for Wrexham in the Welsh Premier between 2012-15 and one of her best goals came in this 2-0 victory at Glan Conwy’s ground.
After Ashleigh Hayes had given the visitors a half-time lead, Lexi clinched the points following the interval with a thunderous right-foot shot which gave keeper Jess Hughes no chance.
Debutant Lexi made it a day to remember as she struck twice for Amlwch in a hard-fought victory at Kinmel Bay.
The Anglesey ace scored first on 14 minutes before Cerys Gadd made it 2-0 after 20.
On the hour Lexi celebrated a double when she scored from a free kick. Jessica Jones’ pair was not enough to save Kinmel.
Having strengthened their squad with some great summer signings, Amlwch began the 2019-20 season on fire at newly-formed NFA.
Although she initially missed a few chances, Lexi ended up with a hat-trick, including a stunning bullet which flew in off the bar.
Lexi was on ruthless form in front of goal this evening at Belle Vue.
She scored once in the first half, but late in the second the goal machine netted three more times in 11 minutes to make it four in all.
At the start of 2016-17, Lexi was back at Amlwch, marking her return with a hat-trick in an opening day 6-3 victory over newly-formed Bangor City.
Not sure what Lexi’s best goals total in a single game is, but it could be this six-goal salvo she rattled up at Holyhead 10 years ago.
She was just 17 at the time, but the player then known as Lexi Musgrave (she married James Crawley in 2017) banged in a double hat-trick for a Caernarfon side on their way to a second successive Welsh Premier North Conference title.
Although she began the 2015-16 season at Amlwch Town, Lexi returned to Caernarfon Town in the closing months.
She came on as a sub for the Cofis in the Betty Pickering Cup final and scored within two minutes of taking the field to secure a 1-0 win over former team Amlwch.
Anglesey’s women had never made much impact in the Island Games before, but two years ago they beat mighty Jersey for a place in the final.
Lexi netted the all-important winning goal with a lovely lob over the keeper.
This was a magnificent night at Belle Vue, Rhyl, for Amlwch’s girls as they won their first major trophy.
Town trailed Wrexham at half time, but Cerys Gadd equalised after the break and then Lexi beat the offside trap before putting away the winner. What a night!
Lexi might not agree this is her best game, but I’ve gone for it simply because it was such a prestigious achievement to score Ynys Môn women’s first ever hat-trick at the Island Games.
The result got the girls off to a flyer and helped ensure Lexi finished top scorer in the women’s competition with five goals in four matches.
Lexi was already established as a great club goal scorer, but on this evening her reputation spread further afield.
