Lexi’s magic boots have ensured Ynys Môn are going for gold

Will women’s tournament top-scorer Lexi Crawley of Ynys Môn prove the deciding factor when Anglesey meet the Isle of Man in tomorrow’s Inter-Island Games final at Holyhead Hotspur (kick-off 3.30pm)?

Amlwch Town striker Crawley has undoubtedly been the star of the ladies competition so far, netting five goals in three matches to head the scoring chart for the females.

She kicked off with a stunning hat-trick in the opening match against Western Isles, thus becoming the first-ever Môn ladies player to score three times in a competitive game.

Lexi also found the net once in the 3-2 defeat against Hitra, where Anglesey fought back from three-down to almost force a draw, and then her brilliant strike versus Jersey sealed the North Walians their dream place in the final.

Scoring goals has always been a big part of Lexi’s game, from the early days, where she represented Caernarfon Town as a 16-year-old and then Wrexham in the Welsh Premier League, to more recent times as a prolific markswoman for Bangor City and Amlwch Town in the North Wales League.

This season she bagged the winning goal for Amlwch in the Supplementary Cup Final against Wrexham at Belle Vue, Rhyl.

A former Welsh Colleges international, who played against England and Australia, Lexi is enjoying a far happier time in the current Island Games than she did when debuting in 2015 tournament in Jersey. She scored, but also managed to break her nose in a short 10-minute spell on the field.

Football runs in the family as Lexi’s sister Paige Williams is also a regular in the Ynys Môn and too plays for Amlwch.

The family name is Musgrave, but both Lexi and Paige are married.

Tomorrow’s opposition in the women’s final Isle of Man have scored the most goals in the ladies event with 10.

Sarah Wignall is leading net-finder with three, but the Manx maidens have a number of players capable of finding the net.
