On International Women’s Day it is apt that we feature one of the greatest North Wales players of them all.
Ceryl Tindall-Jones today chooses team 22 in the North Wales Women’s Football Dream XI series.
A three-time Welsh Cup winner with Bangor City, Ceryl has also lifted numerous trophies with Caernarfon Town, won 48 senior Welsh caps and represented both Merseyside giants, Everton and Liverpool, at the top level.
The attacking play of “Giggsy” won her endless plaudits throughout her career.
In selecting her Dream Team, Ceryl follows previous ‘managers’ Paige Williams (Amlwch), Tegan Hewitt, Alaw Davies-Smith, Nia Wyn Ellis, Annmarie Jones, Fflur Williams, Chelsea Evans, Abby Williams, Gwenno Gibbard Bolton, Lexi Crawley, Claire Colville, Cerys Gadd, Libby McClelland, Meinir Thomas, Erica Jones, Rachel Roberts, Beca Williams, Mari Gibbard, Emily Jones, Cara Wyn Hughes and Catrin Wyn Thomas.
A goalkeeper you could trust to stop anything. Former team-mate at Bangor City.
Only seen her play for Caernarfon a couple of times, but very reliable player that wants to get involved and understands the game well.
Very good and organised defender in the couple of games I played against her.
One of those defenders who when you think you’ve got past her, she gets that tackle in that frustrates strikers. One of the best defenders all-round.
Hard-working, never afraid to put her body on the line.
A player that could play in any position.
The midfield wall solid, the Roy Keane of women’s football.
Best midfielder I know, always puts 100% into her game.
The Paul Scholes of the midfield. Keeps calm and controls the midfield. Hard-working, box-to-box midfielder.
Fastest player I’ve ever seen. Made poor through balls look like brilliant passes. Never stopped running up and down the wing.
Industrious, skillful player that would run forever and not be afraid to throw her body into tackles.
We all know the talent and eye for goal Fozzy had, knew where the goal was with her eyes closed. Quick feet, very skillful.
Set-pieces queen. Best left-footer in the women’s game.
