Most people who saw Amlwch Town Ladies’ 20-0 scoreline yesterday might have thought it was the biggest win in the team’s history.
Not so. The Anglesey side has recorded a previous 20-0 victory – and it was only last season.
Dressed proudly in their Poppy kits, Amlwch rattled up a 20-0 win on November 4, 2018, over Penrhyn Bay at Lon Bach.
Scorers that day were: Cerys Gadd 6, Lexi Crawley 4, Charley Smith 2, Charlotte Webb, Sara Furlong, Shannon Thomas, Chloe Taylor, Sophie Baker, Paige Williams, Ashleigh Jones and Ffion Owen.
Just over a year on, only three of that group scored yesterday – Shannon Thomas, Paige Williams and Ffion Owen.
The main two providers 13 months ago, Cerys and Lexi, were unavailable for yesterday’s match.
Amlwch have made a great start to the current season, leading North Wales League Division Two by seven points with six wins and a draw, having netted 65 goals already!
Town’s only defeat has come away to Division One leaders and joint reigning champions Llanfair United 3-1 in the Welsh Cup.
