Llinos lands a double in NFA end-of-season awards

Llinos Hughes

When you are named best player by both your team-mates and manager, it is obvious you’ve had a pretty good season.

So it was a very happy Llinos Hughes who discovered she had won the Players’ Player and Manager’s Player of the Season awards from her club NFA this weekend.

Due to lockdown restrictions, the awards were staged virtually on the internet, but there was still plenty of support and excitement for the event.

The 2019-20 season was NFA’s first in the North Wales Women’s League and only comprised nine league games and two in the cups.

The Rhyl-based newcomers racked up a very impressive six league wins, though, to finish third in Division Two on the points-per-game method.

Defender Llinos was outstanding throughout, the 18-year-old showing a remarkable level of consistency in her first full campaign in adult football.

Young Player of the Year went to Chloe Evans, a 17-year-old defender whose industry and determination on the field was a shining example to all around her.

Emily Jones and Amy Webster took the Joint Top Scorer prize, while Stephenie Hewitt, 27 yesterday, was rewarded for her dedication by scooping the Most Committed Player award.
