Welsh Alliance: Felinheli pounce late, Glan Conwy back up to second

Glan Conwy edged back up to second in Welsh Alliance Division One with an impressive 2-0 victory at Llanrug United.

Shaheen Ahmed broke the deadlock, finishing off a great cross at the back post, before Morgan Owen made it two with a 40-yard stunner.

Defending into the wind in the second half, Glan stayed strong to claim maximum spoils.

Andrew Roberts and Meilir Williams (2) secured Blaenau Amateurs a 3-0 success at Llandyrnog United, Sam Jones pocketed an injury-time winner as Greenfield triumphed 1-0 at Prestatyn Sports and Llanrwst United recorded a 2-0 result at St Asaph City, Leighton Griffiths and Chris Nicolson on target.

Iwan Morris and Osian Jones grabbed the goals which earned Mynydd Llandegai a 2-1 verdict over Penrhyndeudraeth, Cai Henshaw responding.

In Division Two, the battle of the leading pair saw a 90th minute goal from Gruff John seal Y Felinheli a thrilling 3-2 home victory over Penmaenmawr Phoenix.

Iwan Owen and Ryan Cain also netted for the hosts, Alfie Caldecott and Dan Williams having put the visitors 2-1 up at one stage. Felinheli are now top on goal difference.

Llandudno Junction fought back from three-down at Gwalchmai to win 4-3 and complete a double over the islanders.

Goals from Corey Sinnott, Marc Evans (pen) and Gareth Allman put Gwalch 3-0 in front inside the first 20 minutes, but an own goal before half time, plus further strikes from Rob Gore (59 mins), George Roberts (69) and Jack Williams (78) sealed a stunning victory for the Railwaymen.

Amlwch Town led Gaerwen 2-0, fell 3-2 behind, but ended up with a 3-3 draw.

Dan Jones (2, 1 pen) and Luke McGivern provided the Town total, Connor Gordon (2) and Chris Bennett ensuring the high-flying visitors bagged a point.

Kinmel Bay narrowly beat Aberffraw 2-1, Daniel Wickerson and an own goal clinching a home win, Nathan Moore converting from the spot for Berffro.

Scott Brown, Peter Bould and Alex Williams were Mochdre Sports’ marksmen in a 3-2 outcome against Llandudno Amateurs, Ryan Rowlands and Joseph Jones hitting back.

Pentraeth versus Barmouth and Dyffryn finished 3-3. Josh Owen (2) and Gwyndaf Hughes made entries on the Anglesey side’s scoresheet, Rob Murfet (2) and Sean Brett replying for Bermo.
