Welsh Alliance: Glan Conwy up to second, Pwllheli reach cup final

Conor Davies was a five-goal star as Glan Conwy nudged into second spot in Welsh Alliance Division One with a 6-1 drubbing of Llanberis at Cae Ffwt.

Although Glan are seven points behind leaders Holyhead Hotspur and have played three games more, and are a point in front of Denbigh Town in third but have played four more fixtures, points on the board is never a bad thing.

Davies dominated the scoring for the hosts with his quintet, Azzy Boyle also on the mark, while Arwyn Price hit back for the Darans.

Bodedern Athletic walloped St Asaph City 5-0 at Cae Ty Cristion, Casey Boylan (2), Jamie Jones, Callum Thomas and James McMinimee sharing the goals.

Chris Bennett, Llion Vaughan Jones and Sean Pritchard were on target for Gaerwen in their 3-2 win at Mochdre Sports, Gareth Jones and Chris Lloyd hitting back.

On Friday night, a Joe Jones hat-trick helped Llandudno Amateurs draw 3-3 with Amlwch Town. Jones looked to have sealed it when he made it 3-2 late on, but deep into added time Gareth Torr plundered a dramatic equaliser. Dan Jones netted Amlwch’s other two goals.

Pwllheli advanced to the Lock Stock Challenge Cup final with a 2-1 triumph at Y Felinheli. Paul Lewis and Dafydd Gwyn Jones netted the away goals in a tie played on a very difficult surface, Ifan Ynyr the Felin scorer. The other semi between Aberffraw and Gwalchmai was called off due to high winds.

Reserves Division action saw champions Porthmadog win 2-0 in their derby at Pwllheli, Sol Kempster and Arwyn Jones with the vital goals.

Colwyn Bay missed a chance to join top two Denbigh Town and Porthmadog on 27 points when they were held 2-2 at home by Llanberis.

Bay dominated much of the game and led 2-1 through Greg Hall and a 30 yard screamer from Harri Gwilym, but Cian Gibbard and Celt Moss responded to salvage a point for the Darans.

Cory Young, Joe Williams and an own goal made sure Penmaenmawr Phoenix held leaders Denbigh Town 3-3.

Steven Jones (2) and Harry Jones were responsible for Llangefni Town taking the honours 3-2 at St Asaph City, net-finders Joe Hinchcliffe and Jamie Jones (pen) giving Saints a prayer.
