Holywell Town are top of the Welsh National League Premier Division after stretching their season-long unbeaten run to 14 matches with a 4-0 home thrashing of former champions FC Queen’s Park.
Johnny Haseldin’s Wellmen also recorded yet another clean sheet – their 10th in the league this term.
The opening goal came on nine minutes, when Luke Edwards found Alec Williams, who controlled the ball well, dribbled past the onrushing keeper and slotted home from a tight angle.
Barry Torrence went close with a header for the visitors before the hosts doubled their lead on 19 minutes. A great move saw the ball go out to Sam Jones on the edge of the box. He turned inside and fired goalwards, the keeper partially saved and Luke Edwards was there to find the net.
A third arrived before half time. Sam Jones burst into the box, his shot was saved by the legs of the keeper and the ball rebounded out, hit Alec Williams’ head and ended up in the back of the net.
Ten minutes into the second period the Park were reduced to 10 men when Torrence picked up his second booking.
Town rounded off the scoring soon after on 56 minutes, Luke Edwards applying a cool finish.
Home keeper Mike Platt saved well from Andrew Hughes before the Wrexham side endured another dismissal when Curtis Neary saw red for a challenge on Mark Connolly.
Platt pulled off a great save to deny Luke Hughes a late consolation goal.
Elsewhere in the Premier, Llanuwchllyn produced a brilliant 2-0 result at Brymbo thanks to first-half strikes from Iolo Gwyn Jones and David Prysor Jones.
Llay Welfare were also in tremendous form as they triumphed 4-1 at overnight leaders Rhostyllen, Ryan Goodband (2), Matthew Worrall and Tom Wells sharing the away goals, Tom Douglas replying.
Lloyd Ellams struck twice for Penycae in their 2-0 success at Castell Alun Colts, while Saltney Town outscored Brickfield Rangers 8-4 in a thriller. Jack Roberts (3), Ben Evans (2), Stephen Chiocchi, Elliot Bond and Jordan O’Brien shared the Bordermen’s tally, Andrew Vale with all four for Bricky.
Mold Alexandra fought back from 3-1 down to grab a 4-3 win at Chirk AAA thanks to a last-minute decider. Louis Middlehurst (2), Steve Watkin and Danny Warren clinched an away verdict.
Ian Hughes put Rhos Aelwyd one-up at Plas Madoc, but the visitors missed further chances and paid the price when the hosts equalised from the last chance of the game.
In Division One, goals from Matty Thomas (2) and Alistair Gibson ensured Coedpoeth United nudged up to third with a 3-2 victory against Halkyn and Flint Mountain.
Llangollen Town are second and just three points behind leaders Hawarden Rangers following a 3-0 home win over Lex XI, goals from Dewi Edwards (2) and Kristian Jones clinching the points.
