Kickboxing warrior Alan Blacks plans to end combat career with a real bang!

Three more fights and out!

Caernarfon’s combat machine Alan Blacks has decided to hang up his gloves, but not before going out with a bang.

The 27-year-old Welsh champion kickboxer plans to have three more contests in a short space of time before calling it a day.

This Saturday will see Blacks – real name Alan Mark Owen – take on Dan Pritchard in a bout at Venue Cymru, Llandudno, on a show organised by world champion Mike Egan.

Then on September 28 comes a massive local derby as he clashes with fellow Cofi and former Welsh champion Alan Mark Roberts (aka Slim) for the Market Mayhem Heavyweight title at the Market Hall, Palace Street, Caernarfon.

Blacks will then close out his career when he meets good friend Robert Ben Humphreys, one of three highly-respected Humphreys fighting brothers from Porthmadog, at the Rise of the Welsh Warriors show in Criccieth on October 19.

In this one, Alan’s WUMA Welsh Heavyweight title will be on the line.

Winner of all three of his contests so far, Alan, who also plays football for Llanrug United and was a Welsh Alliance League title winner with Llangefni Town last season, announced his decision to retire from kickboxing on social media today.

He said: “It’s been a roller coaster year and a half for me, becoming the Welsh champion after three fights…I’ve decided after these three fights I’ll be putting my gloves down due to my new born baby coming to the world and working away and also moving to the new house with (partner) Lora Wyn, so the training hasn’t been great.

Alan will miss kickboxing but is committed to dedicating himself to a new lifestyle

“I just want to say thank you to (trainer) Marvin Pritchard for sticking by my side since day one. He’s not only my trainer but a good friend as well, like a brother to me. Thank you won’t be enough for the hard work and time he has had for me – Marv thank you very much for everything.

“So after the 19th I won’t be stepping in the ring again, but on the plus side I’ll have memories and some good time to enjoy with my family – new chapter, new life.

“I want to say thank you to all my sponsors as well for sponsoring my fights can’t thank you enough.”
