It’s on….Blacks v Slim – the rematch!

The Caernarfon gladiators will meet again on May 9 at the Rise of the Welsh Warriors event in Criccieth.

Alan Mark Roberts, known as Slim, will be out for revenge having lost a clear points decision to Alan Blacks for the Market Mayhem heavyweight kickboxing title in Caernarfon last September.

Promoter Marvin Pritchard said today: “Alan Slim has been desperate to prove himself again in the ring after taking on Alan Blacks and losing at Market Mayhem last year.

“We are so excited to announce that this rematch has now been secured. Both will go back into the ring and face each other again on May 9 at Rise of the Welsh Warriors in Criccieth. They have both made it their New Year’s resolution to bring their A game!”

Blacks, 27, whose real name is Alan Mark Owen, stretched his unbeaten record to five and 0 despite being outweighed by three-and-a-half stone against the 36-year-old Roberts, just over three months ago.

The fight had captured the imagination of MMA and boxing fans from the Caernarfon area and beyond with the Market Hall packed-out for a top class show.

Blacks generally dominated throughout with his speed and skills, fighting to a game plan devised by coaches Pritchard and Darryl Gallagher.

Slim, who was also unbeaten in four contests going into the bout, and is a former WUMA Welsh heavyweight kickboxing champion, gave it his all, but Blacks prevailed in a display of true quality.

Blacks added the Market Mayhem title to the WUMA Welsh heavyweight kickboxing belt he already possessed.

In his next bout, Blacks lost his unbeaten record after being outpointed by Porthmadog’s Robert Ben Humphreys.

Blacks had said that was to be his last fight, but he has now decided on a comeback in 2020.
