Gwynedd League: A magnificent seven for the Bulls, first wins for Llanystumdwy and Bethesda

It’s a magnificent seven for Trearddur Bay Bulls who moved eight points clear at the Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd League summit with a 3-2 result at Ogwen Tigers on Saturday.

Ogwen put up a great show, though, goals from Tomos Eames and Gethin Parry ensuring they went close to becoming the first team to take points off the leaders this term. Tigers also had to play the last 35 minutes with 10 men.

In the end, it was a first two goals of the season from Dave Webb and another by top scorer Gwynfor Owen – now on 10 for the campaign – which clinched the Bulls a hard-fought seventh straight win.

Rest of the League

Andy Clarke marked his return to Bethesda Athletic with both goals in a 2-0 victory at Bontnewydd. The result lifted Pesda off the bottom and delivered them a first league win of the campaign.

Talysarn Celts took the honours 5-3 at Glantraeth.

Jac Jones, Rhodri Jones, Gwyn Thomas and Luke Baum (2) sealed the points for the visitors, Cian Evans (2) and Aaron Rickards for the home side.

Darren Parry and Mark Godfrey both bagged hat-tricks as Llanystumdwy celebrated their first win of the season – a 7-2 away bashing of Llannerchymedd.

Iwan Lloyd also scored for Llanystumdwy, for whom Kyle Williams was making his 400th appearance.

Mark Jones and Shaun Pritchard found the net for Medd.

Bangor 1876 and Nefyn United were both involved in the Welsh Cup – and the pair won. After falling behind to Llandudno Athletic, 1876 fought back to win 4-1, while Nefyn knocked out Llandudno Amateurs 6-4 in a thriller (scorers and more details in Grassroots North Wales’ Welsh Cup report).

Bro Goronwy were very unlucky to lose 5-4 at home to Blaenau Amateurs of Welsh Alliance Division One.
