Bangladesh ace stars as Northop Hall win again – but it’s heartbreak for Prestatyn

Bangladesh Test all-rounder Enamul Haque Jr scored a half-century and took five wickets as Northop Hall maintained their winning run by comfortably seeing off Fleetwood Hesketh at Smithy Lane.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Hall chalked up 225-6 declared off 47.2 overs, having been 104-5 at one stage.

Joshua Andrady top-scored with 61, sharing in a sixth-wicket stand of 89 with Haque Jr, who finished 59 not out off 52 balls, while earlier, opener Alex Smith posted 40.

In reply, Fleetwood were dismissed for 128, despite being 57-0 at one point.

Haque Jr claimed 5-29 off 10.4 overs, while James Hurlin scooped 5-58.

Points were 25-4 in favour of the Flintshire hosts.

Result: Highfield won by 28 runs

Bitter disappointment for Prestatyn after they bowled out their lofty opponents for 109 but could then only manage 81 in response.

It all began so well for the North Wales side, reducing the visitors, who were put in, to 42-5 and eventually sending them all packing for a very modest 109.

Adam Tidswell collected 4-42 for the hosts, Sheil Sethi 3-31 and Kieron Tidswell 2-29.

Prestatyn plummeted to 39-7 before restoring some respectability, ending up 81 all out, Rhys Jones best with 31.

Former Worcestershire bowler Chris Liptrot snapped up 4-37 and Ryan Parry 4-21.

Result: Match drawn

Sri Lankan star Saliya Saman Jeewantha played a key role with bat and ball as Bay held on for a losing draw at Penrhyn Avenue.

Colwyn won the loss and put the Lancastrians in, skipper Thomas Foster leading the charge with 82 no as the visitors posted a challenging 224-5 declared off 55 overs.

Jeewantha was the leading home wicket-taker with 3-47.

Bay looked to be heading for defeat at 129-7, but the lower order were stubborn and the hosts held on to finish 165-8.

Jeewantha was again central with an unbeaten 44, George Johansen notching 28 and Tom Roberts a vital 18 batting with the overseas player.
